8 Chlamydia trachomatis infection The following slides present data on chlamydia testing. The data on testing are currently collected from the laboratories using a proforma. These data are used to inform the NHS QIS Sexual Health Services Standards and the Key Clinical Indicator: What is the proportion of the population within each NHS Board having a chlamydia test and the proportion of those tests which are positive. The data are analysed by gender and stratified by age.

Note that it is not possible to distinguish between a primary and a recurrent infection using the laboratory data, thus, these data reflect all cases that have been diagnosed with genital herpes. For data on first occurrence of genital herpes in the genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic setting, please refer to the data on the ISD website available at:

This is an enhanced surveillance system, the National Enhanced Surveillance of Infectious Syphilis Scotland (NESISS), and both epidemiological and laboratory data are collected on all infectious cases.
