13 Test and Treat for TB, HIV The risk of having active tuberculosis among patients with cough at an HIV testing center is 30%. Patients with TB and cough are rapidly identified and treatment initiated the same day to prevent ongoing transmission. Patients infected with both TB and HIV are placed on isoniazid prophylaxis the same day to prevent active TB.
