1 INTEREST - 13th International Conference on HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis, and Prevention Research in Resource-Limited Settings May 2019, Accra, Ghana The PREMIER scientific platform for researchers and health care professionals to discuss the latest developments in HIV treatment, pathogenesis, prevention, and related fields The 13 th annual INTEREST Conference will be held in Accra, Ghana, from May 14-17, Known as the African CROI, INTEREST brings together scientists, implementers, and health care professionals involved in HIV treatment, pathogenesis, and prevention research from around the world. The conference provides a platform to share pivotal findings, promote collaboration, and transfer experiences across several fields and continents including Africa, Europe, and North America. Before the morning plenary program, there are: Joep Lange early career guidance mentoring sessions Grantspersonship sessions that provide a forum for research funders such as Fogarty International Center/U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), the European and Developing Country Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP); and France Recherche Nord & Sud Sida-HIV hépatites (ANRS) to discuss opportunities and describe the profiles of successful applications Thematic guided poster discussions led by experts Language of the conference: Presentations may be made in English or French Bidirectional simultaneous translation of French and English will take place for all plenary sessions Abstracts may be submitted in either English or French REGISTER TODAY Registration for INTEREST 2019 is now open!
2 LOCAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE We are pleased to introduce the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 13th INTEREST Conference to be held in Accra. Key Ghanaian experts actively engaged in the field of HIV, they include academics, care providers, and representatives from government institutions and civil society. Under the leadership of the INTEREST 2019 Local Chair Professor Kwasi Torpey, their valuable input and expertise is ensuring the success of INTEREST
3 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION We encourage researchers from around the world to submit their abstracts and help shape the program of INTEREST Abstracts can be submitted in French or English and scientific peer review will be conducted in both languages. We invite you to choose one of the following categories for each submitted abstract: Antiretroviral treatment and HIV care Basic science and HIV cure Community/civil society engagement Economics, innovative financing, development goals Epidemiology Health system strengthening HIV co-infections, including hepatitis, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and (re)emerging pathogens HIV and co-morbidities HIV prevention including HIV vaccines and antibodies Implementation science, cost-effectiveness, and modelling Information technology innovations for HIV (mhealth, electronic records, social media, etc.) Key Populations: prevention and treatment challenges Knowledge translation to policy and programming Laboratory monitoring/diagnostics New PrEP technologies and PrEP rollout Paediatrics and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) Regulatory, ethical, and research conduct issues Socio-behavioural research Stigma and discrimination Structural determinants and interventions Women and HIV Abstracts accepted for oral or mini-oral presentation are eligible for travel and accommodation support.
