2 Barents HIV/AIDS Programme Ongoing and recent projects Finnish-Russian (multilateral): Promotion of good practices in the work against HIV and tuberculosis in the Barents region II. Coordination: National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Finland. Budget for 2014-December ,500 EUR. Financier: Finland Norwegian Russian: Cross action between regional AIDS Centre and RAKURS and Olafia Clinic, Oslo Univeristy Hospital. Coordination: Norway. Approximate budget for 2015: NOK 213,800. Financier: Norway. Adolescents health and HIV/STI prevention Seminar in Archangelsk at STI clinic on October New methods for consultation of youth Outi Karvonen 2
3 Ongoing and recent projects Medicine, Education and Art for the World without HIV and TB ( ). Coordination: Olav Andre Manum, Norway, and NGO Sodeistvie, Karelia. Financier: Norway. Completed in June 2015, see Overall objective was to raise HIV awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination Purpose was to strengthen the role of civic society in better understanding of HIV in the society through training of media professionals, politicians, medical staff, business, NGOs in collaboration and partnership on new international approaches in HIV, TB and communicable diseases prevention. Results in numbers: 38 media professionals, medical staff, authorities and businessmen trained; 28 teachers trained; 280 students trained; 17 articles, TV reports and news produced; 55 participants at master-classes by artists; two educational programmes for students and working people prepared and printed Outi Karvonen 3
4 Ongoing and recent projects Development and implementation of effective community-based HIV/AIDS prevention among men who have sex with men in the Barents Region. Coordinated by Gay and Lesbian Health Norway and RAKURS, Archangelsk. Approx. budget for 2014: NOK 400,000, for 2015: 560,355. Safer sex brochure under development; Workshop to present the brochure planned; Collaboration also with organisations in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe Outi Karvonen 4
5 Norwegian Russian projects HIV and co-infections among vulnerable groups in Murmansk Oblast. Diagnostic-treatment-prophylaxis. (June 2014 continues) Coordination: University Hospital of Northern Norway and Murmansk Regional AIDS Centre. Approx. budget: NOK 500,000. Financed by Norway. Meeting in Kirkenes in the beginning of 2015; A big meeting planned in Oslo in autumn. TB collaboration which includes component about HIVinfection. LHL Norway, Archangelsk and other Barents regions.
