FC2 MISSION STATEMENT For over 20 yrs. the Female Health Company ( FHC ) has devoted itself to the fight against HIV/AIDS, STI s and unintended pregnancy. Currently established globally in over 140 countries as the ONLY WHO and FDA approved female condom. In light of current developments, we are actively engaged and continuing to work with leading health organizations throughout the Americas and the rest of the world to address the growing dangers posed by the outbreak of the Zika virus. Our product is part of a multi-faceted approach health organizations are taking to combat the spread and impact of the Zika virus, and we will continue to work tirelessly to address this threat to public health. By disseminating information and access to a highly effective option to protect women from sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy, the Female Health Company is continuing its ongoing mission to improve the health and well-being of women around the world.
The Female Condom What is it? FEMALE CONDOM WHAT IS IT? FC2 is a non-hormonal, latex-free condom inserted into the vagina Indicated for prevention of pregnancy and STI/HIV Made of nitrile (non-latex) sheath and outer ring, and a polyurethane inner ring. Nitrile is 3X stronger than latex Comes pre-lubricated with silicone lubricant. Can be used with additional water and oil based lubricants. No spermicidal additives Preservative and Paraben free Gluten free Non-allergenic The only FDA approved female condom Classified as a Class III medical device Proven safe and efficacious* for more than 20 years Puts women in control of their contraception Can be inserted in advance 6
FC2 PRODUCT OVERVIEW FC2 IS THE ONLY FDA & WHO APPROVED FEMALE CONDOM Dual Indication for preventing pregnancy, HIV/AIDs and other STIs Class III medical device Made of nitrile with polyurethane inner ring 3X stronger than latex. Silicone-based lubricant - inside and out can be used with both water and oil based lubricants Includes no spermicidal additives Latex free Hormone free Can be inserted in advance Can be a source of pleasure for both partners FC2 replaced FC1 in 2003 to address patient acceptance
FC2 W O M E N S H E A LT H W H Y T H E F C 2 M AT T E R S In 2014, an estimated 36.9 million people were living with HIV, a global HIV prevalence of 0.8%. In the same year, 1.2 million people died of AIDS-related illnesses. The FC2 Female Condom is one of the key tools in controlling its spread. HIV/AIDS Leading cause of death globally for women age % of female cases contracted via heterosexual transmission Male and female condoms are the only prevention products available No near-term alternative prevention products on the horizon STIs Explosive incidence numbers around the world In U.S., Center for Disease Control (CDC) sees 20 million new cases annually of the 3 STIs tracked; half of cases occur within the age group 42% Male 58% Female Worldwide, women living with HIV/AIDS is 50% of the global total
WHY THE FC2 IS IMPORTANT TO COMMUNITIES FC2 Increases Protected Sex Acts: Studies have found that female condoms, when offered alongside male condoms, increase the number of protected sex acts. The data shows that when there is more choice there is more protected sex. (Barbosa et al. 2007; Hoke et al. 2007; Choi et al. 2008). FC2 Saves Money: A female condom program in Washington, DC prevents enough infections in its first year to save more than $8 million in future medical costs. (Marseille et al. 2001; Dowdy et al. 2006; Holtgrave et al. 2012). FC2 is Effective: In FDA safety & efficacy studies FC2 was found 95% effective as a barrier contraceptive. With over 20 years of independent safety, effectiveness, and acceptability research other data is available demonstrating an efficacy as high as 98%
FC2 FEMALE HEALTH CO. UPDATE The majority of FHC s growth has been through public health programs, i.e. trainings, city/school events & partnerships (NFPHRA, NCSD, APHA). FHC has tripled the amount of PH trainings, conferences & congresses attended ( 14 vs. 15) to reinforce commitment to the health & well-being of patients & clients. The CDC has indicated a resurgence of STIs in the US due to a variety of reasons. The CDC has also warned the US Public on a new threat the Zika virus. We understand greater brand, product awareness and availability of the FC2 is needed.. Having greater access to education and product knowledge empowers women to understand the benefits of the female condom in the prevention of infections. Broader FHC presence in the US retail sector through new pharmacies and on line stores Expanded FHC social media and HCP outreach
FC2 CONSUMER RESEARCH OVERVIEW Concept Focus Groups & Social Listening Category insights and positioning - Avoid Hormones/Happy, Healthy Sex is overwhelmingly positive Preservative free lubricant, hormone and latex free, natural feel/feels like nothing, preventing unwanted pregnancy and STDs, and FDA approved were universally appealing descriptors Existing User Study - PRELIMINARY RESULTS Preference and frequency of use 90% purchase product again, 88% said recommend FC2 to others Repeat usage: Current Users are Purchasing Multiple Times In Store Retail OB/GYN Outreach 11
