RISKY BEHAVIORS THAT CAN LEAD TO STIs HOW TO AVOID STIs AND UNWANTED PREGNANCIES THE MOST COMMON STIs The pathogens that cause STIs live in the female and male organs and in the blood. STIs can be spread from person to person through blood and bodily fluids such as,,. The three most common STIs are, and. Bacterial STIs Curable Trichomoniasis Chlamydia Gonorrhea Chancroid Bacterial Vaginosis Pubic Lice Scabies Syphilis Viral STIs Incurable Human Papilloma Virus Genital herpes Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C HIV/AIDS Your Thoughts? Do you think most teens are aware that some STIs are not easily treated or cannot be treated at all? Do condoms completely protect you against all STIs? Why or why not? How can you be sure that the person you choose to have sex with does not have an STI? If you knew the percentage of students with STIs in your school, would it make you think twice about having sex? WITH THIS INFORMATION YOU AND YOUR PARTNER WILL CREATE AN INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE USING MICROSOFT PUBLISHER. THE PACKET WILL INCLUDE THE INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR STD ANDTWO SCHOOL APPROPRIATE PICTURES (THEY MUST BE APPROVED BY THE TEACHER). STI: DUE: Gather the information needed to complete your brainstorming information worksheet. Once you have completed your brainstorming worksheet. In the computer lab Using your brainstorming sheets you will now create a brochure related to your STI. Make certain that all information on your brainstorming sheets makes it onto your brochure. You will also need to include 2 school appropriate pictures. You may Google to find a picture of your STI, but it must be approved by the teacher before it can go onto your brochure. The directions on how to create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher are at the bottom of this page. The brochures needed to be SAVED, PRINTED, AND TURNED IN BY. Brochure must include the following information Name of STI Viral or Bacterial Symptoms of STI Male Symptoms of STI Female Symptoms of STI How is it Spread Treatment/cure of STI Prevention and Ways to Prevent 2 pictures showing the STI Names of all group members Directions on How to Make a BROCHURE in Microsoft Publisher 1. Go START on computer 2. Go to PROGRAMS 3. Go to MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 choose MICROSOFT PUBLISHER 4. Under MOST POPULAR 5. Choose BROCHURES 6. Pick a design that you would like to use 7. You will need a 3 PANEL brochure. 8. Click on CREATE and make sure to include al information needed. NOTE: click on the number on the bottom to edit the different pages.
