4 Highlights work in progress MoU with UNICEF and WHO for technical assistance for AGYW work in 11 Global Fund supported countries The HER (HIV Epidemic Response) Initiative: --Platform for organizations and individuals to engage technically and financially in the Global Fund efforts to reduce HIV infections among AGYW --Mobilization of financial resources- mainly targeting private sector and foundations- towards supporting AGYW interventions (e.g.. Under PAAR) --HER Voice (US$ 500,000) to support AGYW groups and CBOs meaningfully engage in Global Fund and related country processes (e.g.. Policy and strategy development) in 13 focus countries 3
5 3 MUTUALLY REINFORCING COMPONENTS HER initiative HER Voice: A collaborative agenda with the CRG -SI (SO3a): Scale-up programs to support women and girls, including programs to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SO3e): Support meaningful engagement of key and vulnerable populations and networks in Global Fund- related processes Programs with improved quality and impact on beneficiary groups CRG- Strategic Initiative - First phase rolled-out from to support civil society engagement in Global Fund processes, but with no focus on AGYW issues; - Second phase of the initiative just launched and will be rolled out from under the 3 original components; - New phase of the SI will bring a stronger focus on Gender & AGWY Issues, in line with the Global Fund Strategy for ; - 1 st time that the Global Fund launches a specific fund to support the engagement of AGYW in grant processes. 1. SHORT TERM TA (Global peer-to-peer civil society TA to support community engagement in Global Fund and related processes across the three diseases (i.e. HIV, TB, Malaria) and RSSH. 2. MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT OF K&V POPS. Longer term-support to: - 6 Global HIV KP networks - TB Advocates (new); - Malaria affected communities (new); - AGYW groups (brand new!); 3.REGIONAL PLATFORMS (Communication and Coordination of Global Fund processes in 6 key regions) A fund for AGYW groups HER VOICE 4
6 HER Voice: A collaborative agenda with the CRG -SI HER Voice is based on the principle that AGWY voices must permeate all policy-making levels to ensure that the design and implementation of interventions effectively reflect what works for them in the fight against HIV. What is HER Voice? This is a USD Global Fund initiative, part of a collaborative agenda between the GRG-SI and the HER Initiative aimed at supporting adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) groups and networks to meaningfully engage in Global Fund s and related country processes in 13 focus countries. The Fund seeks to address some of the day-to-day administrative and logistical barriers that challenge the participation of AGYW in Global Fund related processes and ultimately decision-making spaces that affect their lives. Milestones April 2016 Global Fund Strategy Q Planning response on how to engage AGYW groups in GF processes Q2/2017 Selection of a civil society organization to administer the Fund October 2017 Further consultation with partners and planning November st grant provided???
