3 Orissa HIV Scenario HIV prevalence in general population is 0.22% Ganjam is the 2 nd high prevalent district in India (prevalence rate is 3.25%) 16,733 persons identified as HIV positive by March ,926 PLHIV are on ART treatment as on March 2010 (Govt. data)

8 Overall Objective To respond effectively to the HIV and AIDS epidemic in Orissa; reducing risk and vulnerability to infection and ensuring that people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS have an improved quality of life by the end of 2013

9 Key Result Areas Result 1: Communities have increased knowledge and capacity to take up HIV testing and prevention services in the targeted districts Result 2: Health care providers and community members have accepting and positive attitude towards PLHIV and their families Result 3: PLHIV and affected families improved livelihood security and live positively and with dignity Result 4: PLHIV are able to access and receive appropriate and affordable care and treatment (STI, ICTC, OI/TB, ART services) and social security Result 5: Partners are able to design and implement effective and efficient HIV and AIDS programme interventions to reduce HIV infection among programme participants

17 Key Findings of Mid Term Evaluation Stronger collaboration among Alliance partners especially in the technical sphere The concept of change is not well-defined in any of the implementing organisations nor is there a clear roadmap to how such change would be achieved, what are the steps and how to measure the degree to which such change is being achieved - A strategic visioning exercise needs to be undertaken to develop a clear roadmap for Output, outcome and impact indicators need to be developed to create an evidence base The adolescents and youth have received a lot of information they are aware but enabling factors needed to apply that awareness in real life situations have not been effectively addressed, especially for girls and women

18 2 nd Phase contract signed with HIVOS Revision of the Logical Framework for the European Union project, based on the review findings and the lesson learnt from the various documentations, and roll out of Impact Indicator Framework in line with NACP III Indicators

19 Around 600 new Peer Educators formed in 30 slums, 70 villages and 16 colleges 80 Balak/ Balika Mandalis formed 5 PLHIV district networks registered

20 20 PLHIV families, 30 women self help groups and 1 Balika Mandali have been supported to initiate small enterprises like tailoring, small business including organic farming, food vending

21 60 young women supported with Nutritional garden through organic farming and production of organic manure Produced 13 different green leafy vegetables, herbs and tomatoes, papaya, carrot, radish, cluster beans, corn, etc.

22 Good entry point for community mobilization that can facilitate promotion of behavior change among peers expense related, health and hygiene, education, eating habits, slum development and also most importantly sexual behavior change
