Remove victim from contaminated area. If there is a risk of unconsciousness, position and transport in a stable lateral position. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately. Poisons Information Centres in each State capital city can provide additional assistance for scheduled poisons. Phone Inhalation is not a likely exposure route for this product. The active ingredients are toxic by inhalation. May cause inhibition of the enzyme cholinesterase with symptoms of runny nose, tearing, tightness of chest and wheezing. May cause respiratory tract irritation with symptoms of coughing, sore throat and runny nose. May irritate the skin. Skin absorption of this product may cause inhibition of the enzyme cholinesterase with symptoms of increased sweating, muscle contractions, tearing and constricted pupils. Remove any contaminated clothing. Wash affected skin area immediately with soap and water. Seek medical attention if required. May irritate the eyes. Causes irritation with symptoms of reddening, tearing, stinging and swelling. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water or saline solution and seek medical advice. Product is poisonous if swallowed. May cause inhibition of the enzyme cholinesterase with symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramping, dizziness and sweating. Immediately rinse mouth and seek medical advice. If vomiting occurs keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration. Cholinesterase inhibition sometimes persists for weeks, thus repeated exposure to small amounts of this material may result in unexpected cholinesterase depression. Exposure to this product may produce severe symptoms of cholinesterase inhibition in a previously exposed person.

Advice to doctor Exposure to the active constituents in this product may inhibit cholinesterase. Minor symptoms of exposure include runny nose, tearing, constricted pupils, tightness of chest, wheezing, sweating, muscle contraction, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, dizziness and sweating. If poisoning is severe symptoms of fatigue, convulsions, hypotension, cardiac irregularities, loss of reflexes and coma may occur. In extreme cases death may occur from respiratory failure. The onset of symptoms may be delayed up to 12 hours, however complete recovery from sub-lethal poisoning usually occurs within one week once the source of exposure is completely removed. If symptoms of organophosphate poisoning are present, the administration of atropine sulphate is indicated. In mild cases, start treatment with 1-2 mg of atropine sulphate intravenously every 15 minutes until signs of atropinisation appear (dry mouth, flushing, and dilated pupils). In severe cases, start treatment with 2-4 mg intravenously every 5-10 minutes until fully atropinised. At first signs of pulmonary oedema, place patient in oxygen tent and treat symptomatically. Sweep up spillage and place in a sealable container. Avoid breathing any dust and contact with the skin. On completion of clean up, scrub area with detergent and water and rinse with water. Do not eat, drink or smoke during clean-up operation.

SECTION 11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Acute Toxicity The toxicity of diazinon formulations embedded in plastic matricies is low (average diazinon release per day 19.6 mg/tag). Toxic effects of diazinon are due to the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme needed for normal nervous system function. Inhibition of red blood cell cholinesterase, and enzyme response occurred at lower doses in rats. Mutagenicity Carcinogenic Effects None of the ingredients of the formulation have been shown to produce mutagenic effects. None of the ingredients of the formulation have been shown to produce carcinogenic effects. SECTION 12 ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION Ecotoxicity Use tags only on cattle. DO NOT contaminate dams, streams or waterways with the tags or used containers. SECTION 13 DISPOSAL INFORMATION After Intended Use Destroy empty containers by crushing them. Disposal of containers and spent tags at a local authority landfill that does not burn its refuse. If not available bury the containers and spent tags at a depth of 500mm or more in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, vegetation and roots. Empty containers and product should not be burned. After spill or accident Dispose of sealed containers at an approved local waste disposal site.
