Introduction Acupuncture and Vital plasters: a highly efficient team! In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), illness is generally described as a disharmony in the body. Energy (Qi) and Blood (Xue) flow through the entire body, moving through channels called meridians. When the flow in these channels is disrupted, there is disharmony, although the cause of the disharmony is often somewhere other than the symptom. Symptoms (where the disharmony makes itself known) are welcome in TCM because they demonstrate that there is a problem. In TCM it is generally the cause rather than the symptom that is treated. The result is complete rejuvenation, and the symptoms then disperse of their own accord. In alternative medicine, it is undesirable simply try to make a symptom go away, except in emergencies. Treating only a symptom, the cause will remain, and the disharmonious energy will simply find another outlet elsewhere in the body. Eliminating symptoms (as per Western medicine) can subsequently give rise to a far more dramatic reaction. In TCM, acupuncture is often administered alongside herbs and other types of treatment, and is a method practised only by expert professionals. It is possible to do a great deal of good using needles in this way, but equally it can cause harm if you do not know what you are doing. The use of Vital plasters on the other hand is completely safe. Misuse of them has no consequences - the most it can do is not improve your symptoms! If this is the case, can they really be effective? Yes, and here s why: you can regulate the flow in the meridians directly with needles. That means that they either activate (tonify) or disperse (sedate) the flow. In order to do this correctly you must be not only fully confident in the technical aspects of the treatment, but also a master diagnostician, so unless you meet these criteria, stay well away! The new generation of Vital plasters average out the flow of both Qi (energy) and the Blood (Xue) in the meridians, smoothing away the disharmony. This corresponds to a Qi-Gong principle, where the goal is to encourage the flow back to a harmonised state, bringing it into balance. Equally, when the Vital plasters are placed onto the correct acupuncture point, they will help even out the flow of energy. What happens if I accidentally put it on the wrong point? Nothing! An already harmonious point will, at most, be strengthened by the application of a Vital plaster. It will not be unbalanced. So does that mean that I can use these preventatively? Yes, absolutely. It is like brushing your teeth. You do not only start doing that when you have a problem with your teeth. Similarly, putting a plaster on the soles of your feet overnight as a precautionary measure for the body s energy flow, as well as for active detoxification comes highly recommended. Do I need to be a master of acupuncture to put the pads on? No! This brochure uses lots of pictures and explanations to help you find the correct spot. Remember too, it is not an exact science since a Vital plaster is considerably larger than a needle. Even if you place it incorrectly, it will not matter. The worst that can happen is that it does not help, but it will not harm you. However, the Vital plaster will radiate a large amount of Qi (good vibrations), which happens even if the plaster is not stuck on in precisely the right place. But there are totally different points for virtually the same symptoms! Depending on the symptom, different acupoints can help. You should test the different reactions, remembering that every person reacts differently depending on the state of their energy system and individual dysfunctions. 4

Applying your Vital plasters A new generation of Vital plasters The new generation of Vital plasters is not just more effective, but also substantially safer. The special features of the new plasters are:1) Toxins which have been drawn out are secured within the plaster (previous incarnations of the plasters often re-toxified the body) and 2) all the ingredients within the plaster are beneficial to your energy body. The TCM body clock: determining the energy in your organs There are ten major meridians and two important extraordinary vessels. Each one of these channels has a high and low energy phase, describing the time of day when a meridian is most and least active. It is during this high energy time that the application of the plasters on the appropriate acupoint is most effective. You can leave your Vital plaster on the body for as long as 24 hours. That means, of course, that each of the meridians beneath it can take the energy from the plaster in its own time. In bio-physics, it is said that each different vibration, which forms a part of the whole energy (or Qi) of life, can be better regulated at a particular time of day. The plaster includes the full range of Qi. This is mainly achieved through a high concentration of bamboo. Here pure bamboo distillate is concentrated even further, and this is an important and central feature. For this reason alone, the application of previous incarnations of plasters can never achieve the same effect, as earlier versions contain a concentration of only 1-2% distilled bamboo concentrate, sprayed onto a pad. In the following instructions the popular acupoints and their effects will be explained. This is independent of the plasters and acupuncture, acupressure and other techniques can achieve the same or similar effects. Of course these techniques must be administered by professionals. Vital plasters can be administered by anyone. Stick the plasters onto the described acupuncture point, reflexology zone or other part of the body with the adhesive provided. You can of course use other types of adhesive, such as a sticking plasters, physio-tape, socks, bandages and collars. Where possible, leave the plaster on for 24 hours, but certainly keep it on during the high energy phase of the Element and meridian. Often people simply stick them to their feet overnight, a popular method of application which is very effective. The times are: Metal element - Lung / Large Intestine = Earth element - Stomach / Spleen = Fire element - Heart / Small Intestine = Water element - Bladder / Kidney = Fire element - Pericardium / Triple Heater = Wood element - Gall Bladder / Liver = Uhr Uhr Uhr Uhr Uhr Uhr 5

Applying your Vital plasters II Where to apply There are various reasons why you might use the new generation of Vital plasters and various techniques you can apply. The old Vital plasters were far less effective. 1) Application for Basic Health and Wellbeing 2) Detoxification and the removal of toxins 3) Working with pain 4) Regulating Yin and Yang 5) Targeted application using reflexology zones 6) Summary of applications using acupuncture points Application for Basic Health and Wellbeing Vital plasters can be used for a minimum of three to four weeks on any area of the sole of the foot (where the reflexology zones are situated) to prevent ill-health, as well as for general energy regulation and detoxification. Most people apply the plasters overnight, but if this disrupts your sleep they can also be worn during the day. Should there be a strong reaction to the detoxification, the treatment can be halted for a short time (between one and three days or nights). Then start again and, if all goes well, continue regularly. NB: it is essential that you use TWO plasters, one on each foot. We recommend that you undertake this application for Basic Health and Wellbeing at least once or twice a year. After each series, we recommend further use of the plasters at least once a week in the middle of the soles of the feet to maintain your detoxified state. Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 first night - put a Vital plaster on EACH foot, on the heel second night - put a Vital plaster on each foot, in the middle of the foot third night - put a Vital plaster on each foot, on the balls of the toes on the fourth night, begin again 6

Detoxification and drawing out toxins We differentiate between: A. biological material like heavy metals, candida and dampness (from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine). B. synthetic chemicals such as medications, birth control pills and other hormone compounds, synthetic foods (such as energy drinks), and non-metallic mercury. A) By applying the plasters onto the foot-based reflexology zones, a very straightforward detoxification takes place. It is particularly useful to activate the middle of the sole of the foot because it is here that you will find the only acupoint on the foot: Kidney 1. Kid 1 is a highly effective clearing point. Through this point you can strengthen the centre of the body, calm the Spirit and generally regulate your own energy systems. Activating this point is like plugging yourself into the mains electricity supply. Additionally in all meditation, Qi Gong exercises and all other energy regulating techniques, the connection to Earth is established between the feet and the ground. Because of this, you cannot apply the Vital plasters here often enough! Regular application over the course of two weeks is the minimum recommended dose. Also, after you have completed the Basic Health and Wellbeing course of treatment (see previous page), you can continue to apply the plasters regularly on the middle of the sole of the foot. Before you go ahead with further courses of treatment (see the later explanations), you should complete this detoxification and energy regulation. B) Synthetic chemicals are toxic and can directly affect the lymphatic system. Studies show the best results have come from the application of plasters over the three main lymph zones. As a result the zones (as described below) are to be alternately treated with the plasters for a minimum of 21 days. Because experience demonstrates that many people have strong reactions to this detox, it is advisable to apply the plasters for treatment of lymph during the day. It is certainly possible to use them overnight, but do note that this can lead to broken sleep. The three main lymph zones are: - On the hairline at the nape of the neck. If you place the Vital plaster right up to the edge of the adhesive, it is possible to get the entire plaster over this zone. - In the armpits, on both sides, directly under the pectoral muscle. Of course it is necessary to remove your armpit hair before attempting this. To ensure the sticker stays put, wear a tight-fitting t-shirt or vest. - In the inguinal fold of the groin - both sides. Of course you will need to remove body hair here as well. To ensure the sticker stays well stuck, wear tight-fitting underwear. It is possible that you will have an active reaction to this detox, and you may find it necessary to continue for longer than three weeks. Dr. Klinhardt, the pope of detox recommends precisely this technique for detoxification. 7

Working with pain Here we differentiate between : A. acute pain B. chronic pain A) An acute pain may also often be described as a hot pain and, as such, it may well be alleviated by cooling. Examples include pain as a result of an accident (such as a sprain, bruising or a pulled muscle), inflammation, but also a stabbing, pulsing organ pain (like menstrual cramps or cystitis, although do note that these pains CANNOT be alleviated with cold). In these cases we treat the symptoms locally, precisely where the pain is. This gener ally reduces the pain as well as the swelling and the healing process is likely to be substantially faster. B) Chronic pain can be described as cold and warmth will help alleviate it. Typical ex amples are gout, rheumatism, arthritis and joint pain. In this case put the Vital plas ters on using a sandwich method. That means that the painful area is enclosed on two sides - either above and below or to the left and right of the problem area. You can also use the Vital plasters at the beginning and end of the muscle in ques tion. For example, if dealing with a chronic pain in your quadriceps, instead of putting one pad on the muscle and the second on the hamstring on the other side of the leg, you can place one at the top of the muscle and the other just above the knee, making sure that they are both lined up with the flow of energy (that is, that they are in line with one another). In this way, the muscle will be activated. The goal of administering the plasters in this sandwich method is to reactivate the cold, blocked part of the body - i.e. the stasis - and stimulate flow of energy. Please note that you may expect to experience more pain when you first activate the blockage in this way, and indeed during the first two to four days there may be a pulsing, active pain. This is completely normal. 8

Regulating Yin and Yang - Yang component We are differentiating between: A. YANG type or condition B. YIN type or condition A. YANG type or condition means that the person or the current situation is going through a Yang phase. Yang means active, tense, irritated, hot, geared up. The following problems are common: high blood pressure, heart problems, irritable bladder, dry cough, muscle and tendon disorders, hyperactivity to the extent of burn-out, virility problems, stabbing pain, tinnitus. It is easy to see that the Liver, which is responsible for both physical and mental de toxification, can simply become overwhelmed. The outcome will be both disorders and diseases. The following two acupuncture points can be used daily over a period of time and are best treated at night when the Liver / Gallbladder and Lung / Large Intestine are ac tive (see TCM clock above). Stick the plasters onto the right side of the body only, because both the Liver and Gallbladder are on the right side of your body. It is recommended that you regularly repeat this application over the course of one to three weeks. You can expect improvements after only a short time (i.e. after only two or three ap plications), including better sleep and balance, a greater feeling of calm, the disap pearing of tinnitus, etc. The application must normally be repeated several times (every one to two months for one to three weeks). Use these acupoints when administering your plasters: Liver 3 and Liver 8 (on the inside of the knee). 9

Regulating Yin and Yang - YIN component B. YIN types often suffer from cold, lack of motivation and can seem reluctant, depressed and weak. Typical weaknesses in a Yin body are cold, bladder problems, anxiety, worry, they often wear black and are sensitive to drafts and cold. Their skin is often pale and thin. In order to inject a Yin individual with more activity, dynamism, warmth, and courage, the energy centre which is being treated is stuck in a sandwich. This will activate the Earth Element (Stomach / Spleen) and the Qi (or energy) can be increased. The length of treatment for Yin-inclined people tends to be longer because they them selves are constitutionally slower. Additionally, they will not notice such a large change so quickly. However, when there is a change, it will be sustainable and stable and a regular repetition of treatment is not often necessary. The treatment should continue for a minimum of three weeks. The best time to apply treatment is during the day, especially at the most active times for Kidney / Bladder and Stomach / Spleen, i.e. between 7am and 7pm. Acupoints to target: Governing Vessel 4 (Du Mai 4) (directly opposite the navel at waist height) and Conception Vessel 8 (Ren Mai 8) (on the navel). 10

Targeted application using reflexology zones Reflexology zones can be found on both the soles and the top of the feet, on the hands and on the face. There are other reflexology zones, including on the spinal column and the teeth. When we use Vital plasters however, we focus primarily on the reflexology areas on the feet. For practical reasons they are normally treated at night. This is because toxins are actively drawn out of the feet and the plasters fill up with residue and toxins, something which is less pleasant during the day when you are wearing shoes (although it is perfectly possible to use them during the day if you prefer). 11

Key ingredients Vital plasters have been on the market for several years. The most basic models were produced as far back as1993 and the first industrially produced plasters came about in The technology of the product corresponds to Traditional Chinese Medicine, energy medicine generally as well as even older techniques. For example, the iceman Ötzi was tattooed on various points on his body, a method also known by Indian tribes. Ötzi is 5,300 years old and the Indian customs go back at least 3,000 years. Modern technology uses electronic equipment to highlight problem areas and acupuncture points. However, whilst no apparatus in the world can truly hold a candle to human intuition, many people like to see that the knowledge contained within ancestral techniques, centuries old, can be verified with modern technology. Vital plasters have developed significantly. Since 2012, the new generation of products has retained the useful aspects of the earlier models whilst simultaneously adjusting what did not function effectively. The main differences are: A. Bamboo is used as a regenerative plant. Because it is able to balance Yin and Yang, its high lumination intensity (Qi) and its many active ingredients (like polyphenol), bamboo is the plant of choice in the Vital plasters. B. Distilled bamboo is now used as an active ingredient. It is no longer sprayed as only 1-2% of a solution, rather dry sprayed as a pure concentrate. Accordingly the new Vital plasters are far more effective. Previous incarnations have contained mostly dextrose, i.e. sugar. C. Bamboo concentrate has previously been made from the extract from any species of bamboo. However there is only one species of bamboo which is suitable for human consumption: Phyllostachis Bambusoide. From this we get bamboo tea, bamboo sprouts and various other bamboo products. The other approximately 1,300 types of bamboo are not suitable for consumption. That the only bamboo suitable for consumption should be the one used to create Vital plasters is obvious. 40

E. A mushroom called Blazei Murrill is included as a sort of special binding material for fungal infections, drawn out of the body. The "Agaricus" (Latin-simply means "fungus") also strengthens kidney, bladder and urinary functions. In the areas of origin (South America) it is even used as a "cure" for gynecological problems. In modern naturopathy it is used to aid cancer sufferers as well as those with immune deficiency and chronic hepatitis. F. Chameleon plant (Houttuynia cordata) has a strong antiinflammatory effect. This drug of choice for swelling is transmitted through the fine pores of the Vital patch directly onto your skin. G. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) affects the entire network of energy channels (i.e. the meridians), clearing congestion and blockages. Vital patches naturally aid the skin by helping to draw out toxins of all varieties H. Medlar (Mespilus germanica) purifies the blood and is a restorative plant. Hildegard von Bingen wrote: "The medlar is good and useful for both the sick and the well, regardless of how much you eat, because it helps a person s muscles grow and cleanses their blood. I. Tourmaline produces its own voltage through piezoelectricity, and the 0.06mA precisely matches the voltage of our blood cells. Tourmaline does not permeate out of the Vital plaster, however it mimics the voltage of the skin, activating the molecules and promoting the elimination of foreign molecules (toxins, chemical substances and heavy metals). It encourages absorption thanks to resonance (i.e. detoxification as a result of warmth, as happens when you sunbathe). 41

A summary of potential applications, including acupuncture points In the following summary the most common ailments are listed, along with the specific acupuncture points for treatment. Reflexology points are always additionally helpful. A course in Health and Basic Wellbeing is always recommended before a targeted application, or even during it. Often a basic course is enough in itself. Unless otherwise noted, stick the patches on the dominant side (if you are right-handed, on the right side, if you are left-handed, on the left side). 44 To feel good in oneself is always key for health. TCM considers the symptoms, but also looks for the cause of the problem. Every life consists of energy and vibration, known in Chinese as Qi. Quantum physics today defines material as the meeting point between two quantum entities: sound and light. One can glean much wisdom from this, for example that with the correct information, you can regulate everything. The new generation of Vital patches offer the right vibration. They do not heal as such, but they bring the correct information to the points on the body where they are stuck. In this way they help to draw out pollutants which are blocking flows in the body. 44 CHF 15. / 15.
