2 Continuing professional development (CPD) is essential for today s medical and healthcare professionals to keep their practice up-to-date and also to meet the registration requirement of their professional bodies. The requirement for Continue Education will be mandatory for re-accreditation in most fields of medicine including acupuncture and Chinese medicine when statutory council is established. CPD is compulsory for all CMIR members. All modules are led by experts in their respected field. AcuMedic Foundation in collaboration with the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Guangxi Medical University & Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, offers a range of one-day CPD courses and a number of specialist workshops every year for established professionals. The courses are reputed as high quality interactive training both in theoretical information and clinical practice, focusing on practical skill, clinical updates and safety in practice with expert knowledge and the latest development in key areas of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, including safety procedures, diagnosis and needling. The related patient case studies and many clinical applications will allow students to have more hands on experience on the subjects. 3 Acupuncture Clinical Practice & Syndrome Differentiation Sunday, 23 rd May 2010 This CPD module aims to help Chinese Medicine Practitioners to deepen their knowledge in Chinese medicine theory and syndrome differentiation in their practice of acupuncture. It will focus on syndrome differentiation and acupuncture treatment. There are two patients presenting their clinical cases during the teaching process. The lecturer will help you review some theories, such as viscera, five elements, meridians and four diagnostic methods. Some commonly used acupoints will also be reviewed during the case studies. This module is designed for practitioners who have completed the CMIR Foundation course in Chinese medicine or the acupuncturists who want to improve the syndrome differentiation. 5 Cosmetic Acupuncture with Syndrome Differentiation Sunday, 25 th July 2010 This CPD module aims to improve all round knowledge of syndrome differentiation in Chinese cosmetology. It will focus on Eight Principles, Zang-Fu, Meridian and Symptom syndrome differentiation. The module will guide the practitioner with the best point selection and technique by analysing the syndrome differentiation of Acne, Chloasma and Anti-aging. There will be a review of acupuncture manipulation methods and commonly used acupoints during the patients case studies. This module is suitable for acupuncturists and TCM practitioners, a focus presentation of the material given in the CMIR Specialist Diploma course on Cosmetic Acupuncture & Chinese Cosmetology.
