1 2011 ANNUAL REPORT CGCM Australian Regional Group Associate Professor Dennis Chang Centre for Complementary Medicine Research University of Western Sydney, Australia National Registration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (1) First western country officially recognises TCM practitioners National registration board has been established in July 2011 Practitioners will meet registration standards developed by the Board Registration for practitioners will commence from 1 July 2012 Victorian legislation provided model for national scheme. Victorian practitioners will be transitioned automatically
2 National Registration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2) Register of Chinese medicine practitioners with 3 divisions Acupuncture Chinese herbal medicine practitioners Chinese herbal dispensers Each Division has registration types (e.g. general, limited, provisional) Endorsement of registration required for: Acupuncture practitioners from other professions Practitioners to prescribe restricted (scheduled) herbs Policy for grand-parenting (non-formal qualifications) will be developed by National Board HEALTHPAC CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE The Healthpac Centre of Excellence for Integrative Medicine is a collaborative platform set up by: The Healthpac Medical Group China s State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine SATCM Health Department of NSW Australian and Chinese Universities Leading Chinese TCM teaching hospitals, and Leading China s TCM industry companies EoC aims to provide the whole person medical care by integrating evidence-based complementary medicine with mainstream medical practice.
