1 The Top 3 Herbs That Help Cure Arthritis-A Holistic Approach Common Types of Arthritis: organicheirloomplants.com Osteoarthritis: -Cartilage loses its elasticity. If the cartilage is stiff it becomes damaged more easily. The cartilage, which acts as a shock absorber, will gradually wear away in some areas. As the cartilage becomes damaged tendons and ligaments become stretched, causing pain. Eventually the bones may rub against each other causing very severe pain. Rheumatoid Arthritis: - this is an inflammatory form of arthritis. The synovial membrane (synovium) is attacked, resulting in swelling and pain. If left untreated the arthritis can lead to deformity. Rheumatoid arthritis is significantly more common in women than men and generally strikes when the patient is aged between 40 and 60. However, children and much older people may also be affected. Infectious Arthritis:- an infection in the synovial fluid and tissues of a joint. It is usually caused by bacteria, but could also be caused by fungi or viruses. Bacteria, fungi or viruses may spread through the bloodstream from infected tissue nearby, and infect a joint. Most susceptible people are those who already have some form of arthritis and develop an infection that travels in the bloodstream. Common Causes Of Arthritis: Age: One recent study indicates that levels of a protein known as HMGB2, found in the outermost layers of cartilage, decline with time; another suggests that OA may be a sign of faster "biological aging." The loss of HMGB2 proteins is closely related to aging, as we grow older the level of HMGB2 proteins in our body decreases which is why aging is a prime cause of osteoarthritis. HMGB2 protein is a DNA binding protein that populates the region of cartilage supporting the survival of chrondocyte cells, the cells that make up and maintain cartilage tissue. When the surface layer of HMGB2 protein is lost the number chrondocytes is signifcantly reduced, causing tissue degeneration in the cartilage and moreover progressive osteoarthritis. Genetics: Researchers report that two genetic mutations raise the risk of.rheumatoid arthritis. People who have two copies of one gene, found in the region referred to as STAT4, had a 60 percent greater risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis as well as an increased risk of lupos. A double set of the second genetic mutation, found in the region referred to as TRAF1-C5, increased the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by 87 percent according to research

2 published in the September 6, 2007 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. There are now 5 genes which seem to be associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Excess Weight: Puts tremendous stress on the cartilage, leaving it prone to trauma. Excess weight also speeds the rate at which OA progresses. Cartilage breakdown is unavoidable over time; the goal is to forestall symptoms, most notably pain. Maintaining a healthy weight-or losing weight if you're already carrying too many pounds-helps take stress off the knee. Regular physical activity is crucial for joint health: It helps with weight control, keeps the knee moving freely and strengthens the surrounding muscles. Swimming, bicycling and elliptical training all provide a low-impact workout, as does walking (in properly fitted shoes). Any exercise plan should include stretches, especially those that loosen the quadriceps and hip flexors, which pull the knee upward. Avoid any motion that bends the knee more than 90 degrees, which puts excessive pressure on the cartilage. Be sure to check out our Effective Herbal Weight-Loss Program! Top Herbs That Help "Cure" Arthritis Pain & Inflammation Solomon's Seal Root: Solomon's seal (plygonatum bifloriom) is a plant that has an amazing ability to treat bone and muscles problems. The root of this incredible plant has been used by North American Indians for centuries for ligaments, tendons, calcifications, de-classifications, broken bones and painful joints. Solomon's seal Root is good for many skeletal problems. Here's some examples:

3 Helps to hold an adjustment after a chiropractic treatment Helps a sore back and to heal a crooked back It feeds and lubricates joints, tendons and muscles Great for teeth and gums Joins and heals broken bones (especially good in combination with comfrey and boneset!) Rebuild cartilage when used in combination with horsetail Repairs tissue from old and new injuries Relieves inflammation from repetitive stress or injury, including stretched, tight/loose/atrophied, torn, overused, tendonitis (Tennis elbow), bursitis (inflammation or irritation of tendons or muscles) and arthritis. Has a gentle regulating effect on the heart muscle Don't forget that animals usually respond well to many herbal remedies also. If your dog or cat suffers from arthritis, hip dysplasia or any skeletal problem give Solomon's seal a try! Stinging Nettle: Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica and the closely related Urtica urens) has a long medicinal history. In medieval Europe, it was used as a diuretic (to rid the body of excess water) and to treat joint pain. Stinging nettle has fine hairs on the leaves and stems that contain irritating chemicals that are released when the plant comes in contact with the skin. While the hairs, or spines, of the stinging nettle are normally very painful to the touch. When they come into contact with a painful area of the body, they can actually decrease the original pain. Scientists think nettle does this by

4 reducing levels of inflammatory chemicals in the body, and by interfering with the way the body transmits pain signals. Stinging nettle has been used for hundreds of years to treat painful muscles and joints, eczema, arthritis, gout, and anemia. Today, many people use it to treat urinary problems during the early stages of an enlarged prostate (called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH), for urinary tract infections, for hay fever (allergic rhinitis), or in compresses or creams for treating joint pain, sprains and strains, tendonitis, and insect bites. Comfrey: Comfrey is one of nature's greatest arthritis remedies. Comfrey soothes and heals inflamed tissues, and it helps reduce swelling and pain in a most remarkable way. Comfrey is known as a "Bone Stitching" herb which quickly heals broken bones, sprains, bruises, cartilage, tendons and any arthritis pain and inflammation. Well known and widely used by early herbalists, science now confirms the healing effects of comfrey are attributable to allantoin, a compound shown to speed cell production both inside and outside the body. Comfrey works so fast that many herbalists will add antibacterial herbs such as goldenseal or thyme to comfrey salves to prevent sealing bacteria inside a fast healing wound.
