However, the underlying molecular pathomechanisms of the disease are poorly understood and accordingly, treatment of the etiological causes is still pending. The Arthro Nova Clinic recently developed an innovative modular therapy conception to treat and cure inflammatory and degenerative joint disorders, named IAT. Preliminary clinical results have already been published. Fundamental analysis of the deficiencies of currently used osteoarthritis/arthritis therapies is the basis of the novel IAT concept.

Prerequisite for the design of an efficient treatment concept is to analyze risk factors involved in the onset of the disease. Comprehension of the everyday activities, with regard to loading on the knee and other joints, will ultimately lead to the determination of the maximal loading capacity (individualized diagnostic). All joint replacements will be guaranteed to last for > 10 years. In case of non-infection caused loosening of joint replacements within 10 years, the implant will be exchanged at no additional charge. The amount of wear and loosening is proportional to the activity of the patient that can be monitored by analyzing urine samples of the patient using a recently developed assay system. Urine samples can also be delivered via mail.
