1 April 2018 The usual quarterly of Category M prices Another set of similar comments as I made in January: significant increases in many lines which have been subject to price concessions but even more downward pressure on other Cat M lines resulting in some ridiculously cheap drugs e.g. 28 bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg tablets at 28p, 28 aspirin 75mg dispersible tablets at 33p and 28 warfarin 3mg tablets at 37p. While there is around a 3% increase shown in costs for Category M lines, I think this is due to the inclusion of more lines in Category M. Lines (included here) for which price concessions have been granted in March are highlighted orange (if not otherwise highlighted). concessions were eventually granted for 68 (11%) of Category M lines last month. Some significant s are highlighted yellow. Significant price increases: Glimepiride is the quarter's biggest Cat M riser, up 4-5 times. Perindopril is up about 3 fold. Other lines which were (and still will be?) the subject of price concessions make up the other siginicant Cat M increases; pregabalin being a good example. Significant price decreases: Rosuvastatin enters category M with prices falling by around 80% (phew; I planned for that!) With the exception of the 2.5mg strength, tadalafil has entered category M with drops of around 90% Further Cat M bonuses arise from etoricoxib capsules, travoprost eye drops and ibuprofen 5% gel. Paracetamol 500mg tablets are, at last, about 1p each. After price risies after concessions, sumatriptan tablets are substantially down. Remember that Category A s are compared with March, Category M s are compared with January.
