1 Thames Valley Children s Centre School Support Program and Classroom Resources Items added to the Autism Services Inc. Resource Library Fall 2014 School Support Classroom Kits The Student Awareness Kit is a hands-on set of activities for peers of students with autism. The kit brings students through five primary simulations of what it may be like to have various disabilities. Follow-up activities are provided. See Appendix 1 for complete kit contents. TVCCLTK001 This Visual Strategies Kit provides information and examples of visual strategies in the classroom. TVCCLTK002 Placed with the Visual Strategies Kit (TVCCLTK002) The Visual Schedule checklist is a guide to support educators when a visual schedule is being put in place or assessed. It cues educators to think about the student s understanding and independence when using the schedule
2 Camps On Track-A Peer-Mediated Social Skills Program Designed to teach campers how to make friends and ensure a rewarding experience. Provide proven strategies to use when interacting with children with disabilities, ASD and social challenges. Kit includes 19 activities and instructions as well a booklet with CD. See Appendix 2 for complete list of activities included in kit. TVCCLTK003 The Transition Planning Kit supports educators in preparing for transitions for students with autism. The kit includes workbooks for four primary transitions: entry to school, grade-to-grade, elementary to secondary, and secondary and school leaving. The kit also includes a reference manual and This is Me booklet. TVCCLTK004 Placed with the Transition Planning Kit (TVCCLTK004) This is Me booklets are designed for students and their families to complete and provide to the receiving teacher at the beginning of a new school year. Elementary and Secondary versions are available.
3 The Reinforcement Kit provides strategies on how to reinforce students with autism in the classroom and across the school day. A manual is included along with numerous hands-on tools and worksheets to implement the strategies. TVCCLTK005 School Support Program Books and DVD Visual Strategies: A Picture Guide of Commonly Used Visuals in the Classroom for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders : School Support Program Autism Spectrum Disorder TVCCLB 041 This Visual Strategies book is a collection of visual strategies used in schools for various students, functioning at various different levels.
4 Structured Learning Environment Work Tasks: A Guide for the Elementary Educator : School Support Program Autism Spectrum Disorder and Greater Essex County District School Board TVCCLB 042 The Structured Learning Environment Work Tasks booklet (2nd ed) provides various work tasks to complete in a work system and supports educators in implementing tasks through a work system that promotes learning. The structured learning environment is an environment in which organization and instruction are well considered for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. PEER Pals Program Manual: Peers Establishing Effective Relationships : School Support Program Autism Spectrum Disorders TVCCLB 043 P.E.E.R. Pals is a school-wide peer-mediated program focusing on creating a positive school culture, developing leaders, accepting diversity, and increasing the social communication skills of students with autism by training their typically developing peers. Peer Mediated Social Skills Manual Version 2 Social communication skills are taught in the classroom as well as diversity training.
