2 Applications for the IPAD to Support Evidenced Based Practices for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders As results of NCLB and IDEA, Teachers are required to use Evidenced Based Practices for students with Autism. While many interventions for autism exist, only some have been shown to be effective through scientific research. Interventions that researchers have shown to be effective are called evidence-based practices. The National Professional Development Center uses rigorous criteria to determine whether a practice is evidence-based. Currently, the Center has identified 24 evidence-based practices. Here is a list of some IPAD APPS that support some of the identified Evidenced Based Practices. Please note that every identified practice is not necessarily appropriate for every learner. Practices are most effective when carefully matched to a learner s specific needs and characteristics. For more information on the Evidenced based Practices visit the Autism Internet Modules at Evidenced Based Practice Application for the IPAD to support Description of the Application Price Functional Communication Training and AAC Look2Learn Proloquo Grace Look2Learn (L2L), a revolutionary AAC software application for the ipod Touch, iphone, and ipad allows individuals to work at their communicative level using photographs to express wants and needs.
