1 Curriculum Vitae Jillian Lee Wiggins National Institutes of Health National Institute of Mental Health Building 15K, MSC-2670 Bethesda, MD ( ) (office) EDUCATION University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, 2013 Advisors: Christopher Monk, Ph.D., & Catherine Lord, Ph.D. Dissertation: Brain and genetic mechanisms of socio-emotional functioning in autism spectrum disorders M.S. in Developmental Psychology, 2009 Advisors: Christopher Monk, Ph.D., & Catherine Lord, Ph.D. Thesis: Using a self-organizing map algorithm to detect age-related changes in functional connectivity during rest in autism spectrum disorders Texas A&M University, College Station, TX M.S. in Social Psychology, 2007 Advisor: Marisol Perez, Ph.D. Thesis: Gender differences in psychopathology examined under a transactional theory of stress framework Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL B. A. in Psychology and Biblical Studies, 2004 Magna cum laude Jerusalem University College, Jerusalem, Israel Independent Study in Psychology, 2003 Project: Palestinian women and locus of control during the 2 nd intifada (uprising) RESEARCH INTERESTS My long-term research goal is to identify the brain and genetic mechanisms involved in the development of both normal and impaired socio-emotional functioning. In particular, I am interested in understanding the genetic and epigenetic factors influencing brain function and structure in developmental psychopathology, such as autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, and depression. For example, I have been examining how the serotonin transporter-linked promoter region gene affects brain activation patterns in the amygdala and the default network in youth with autism spectrum disorders.
