1 SIDE MOTOR MOUNT Drawn Altrnat Mount and Location for a Trolling Motor Rv Print in Landscap Mod with ¼ inch bordrs. Th primary purpos of locating th trolling motor nxt to th oprator is as of controls. Th sid location maks string and changs of spd convnint, and rquirs no long string xtnsion arm or spd control box. This rsults in th dp cycl battry bing r-locatd, possibly toward th opposit sid of th hull, for balanc. Th dsign as shown is prtty much univrsal in scop, but th 1 inch gap for hull sid panl claranc is boat spcific. It should fit almost all my hull dsigns, as thy all utiliz a 1x2 rubrails, and 5 MM or 1/4 sid panls. Th location of th mount on th hull is important. It nds to b at last 2/3rds back th lngth of th boat, or mor. If it isn't, it will not str proprly. My watr tsts prov this out. Clos to a bulkhad is advisd, for strngth. Dpnding on th boat, a short tillr xtnsion may b ncssary, but that is a small motor addition, asy to rtrofit. Th othr advantag to this dsign is that it can b applid to my cano or kayak hull typs, and allow thir smooth watr charactristics to b undisturbd, providing mor fficint opration. Similar mounts can b dvlopd to work with diffrnt styl boats, and vn roundd hulls. This is mad th sam way as th hull assmbly bolts. Fr plans availabl on th wbsit. Spacr Bar Mountd on th hull. BULKHEAD On this particular boat, th placmnt of th mount was rasonably clos to th bulkhad. Th bulkhad provids sid panl stiffnss, and as such, th mount will hav littl twisting ffct on th hull. Placd furthr away from th bulkhad may rquir th application of insid panl stiffnrs. 4 Sid Motor Mount Brackt SET-UP: Plac Motor Mount ovr th sid of th hull, as shown, and sat on th rubrail. Align th hol in th Mount with th hol in th Sid Panl. Plac th Spacr Bar so that all hols lin up. Insrt th Bolt all th way through, and thrad into th T-Nut. Hand tightn. Motor Mount You can now install th Trolling Motor onto th Motor Mount. Not to scal Knob Spacr Bar Not: Th locking bolt dos pass through a 5/16 inch hol in th sid panl of th hull. It is wll abov th watr lin, and not a concrn, vn if th motor mount is not attachd. Also, th Mount should b locatd at last 2/3rds back towards th aft nd of th boat, for bst control. If mor cntrd th motor will try to push th hull sidways whn turning. Prior to drilling th hol in th hull, mak sur th location is comfortabl for you. This can bst b don with you sitting in th boat, and th motor mountd, and hanging down, as if in th watr. Howvr, this can usually only occur whn you ar actually in th watr. So, my suggstion is to tak a 5/16 drill with you, and drill th final locking bolt hol in th hull aftr you ar satisfid with th location. Do NOT attmpt to run th motor without th bolt attachd and tightnd! It is possibl that you will hav to add a short motor tillr xtnsion. Also not th position of th motor rlativ to th aft of th boat. Th boat is th 11 foot QUAD. Undr full powr, and no noticabl flx of th hull. It's a good ida to slightly tightn th locking collar on th motor shaft, to prvnt th motor from wandring, and allowing hand's fr cruising.. That's m njoying this grat day on Lak Saguaro. 5
