Transcription

1 Part C Program through the Department of Public Health NPDC-ASD Technical Assistance award focuses on early childhood through the transition to adulthood AIM Autism Internet Modules (NPDC) Nurse Practitioners and pediatricians in the state serving local communities, often as the sole primary provider for Autism Awareness month - develop press releases, launch the KY family guide, and start a public awareness campaign focusing each week on an age group. Individuals will contact press agencies in conjunction with press release to encourage them to run the article. 1. ASD and Early Childhood Lynn, Mary Beth 2. School Age Children with ASD Laura 3. Young Adults with ASD - Becky and Harold 4. Adults and Aging Adults will Provide information to 85% of the membership of nurse/family practitioners via getting the list from the licensure board Present at state conferences to 6-8 new groups over the year with the annually updated presentation by the center Press release for Autism Awareness Month Quarterly meetings among diagnosticians Improved awareness of service providers Improved family feelings toward care coordination Improved outlook for child s future Improved system navigation Improved collection of baseline data and established database Mandated training of professionals in evidence based practice Creation of a parent to parent network specifically related to autism Lowering the age that children with autism are diagnosed and enrolled in early intervention Improving public Improved statewide early identification, intervention, service provision, and coordination that ensures optimal developmental and health outcomes for children Having intensive early intervention services More consistency and evidence based service provision and utilization of screening tools across the state Consistent eligibility criteria and application

8 spring will Talk to South Carolina who links parents of children with autism and related disabilities to parent support groups via physicians Develop a document about evidence-based practices or use the chapter from The KY Family Guide to be given to parents from primary care physicians Use existing marketing tools at universities to also tell the public about Act Early and the available resources Develop a cover letter to accompany the material

9 explaining it and setting the context for the material Increase the number of calls to the PTI regarding autism Increased use of screening tools by nurse practitioners (to be detected by the referrals from screening tools used) Develop a standard powerpoint presentation through the center to be used by team members A shared online passwordprotected workspace to be used by the group Increase the number of referrals to early intervention Increase the number of parents to be trained through the leadership academy will
