Lincoln Avenue Columbus Ohio EDUCATION Ph.D., The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, May 2019 Candidate for Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Work Specialization: Child and adolescent mental health intervention and translational research Proposed Dissertation Title: A Post Hoc Analysis of the Process and Outcomes of Interpersonal Social Rhythms Therapy for Adults with Bipolar II Disorder: Steps Towards Dissemination Chair: Theresa Early, MSW, Ph.D. Committee: Tamara Davis, Ph.D., Dr. Alicia Bunger, Ph.D., Dr. Natasha Slesnick, Ph.D. This dissertation proposes a secondary data analysis of a study testing the efficacy of Interpersonal Social Rhythms Therapy (IPSRT) plus placebo compared to IPSRT plus medication in the treatment of bipolar II disorder depression. The purpose of this study is to examine if participants experience a change in suicidal ideation and specific domains of functioning (e.g. interpersonal relationships, employment, cognitive functioning, etc.) and if this change differs when participants receive medication in addition to IPSRT. Additionally, this study seeks to understand who may be treated successfully with IPSRT alone on what outcomes by examining moderators of treatment response (i.e. childhood trauma and baseline anxiety, and previous number of mood episodes). Finally, the study examines whether these treatments close the time lag seen between recovery from symptoms and impaired functioning often seen in individuals with bipolar disorder. Data analyses will be conducted using hierarchical linear modeling and survival analysis. The goal of this study is to aid in future dissemination and implementation of IPSRT for bipolar II disorder and to inform the emerging staging model of treatment, which aims to tailor personalize treatment choice to stage of illness progression.
