2 Breast Cancer Management 2014 This program will review the current state-of-the-art in breast cancer diagnosis and management, highlighting the key components of multidisciplinary treatment to include surgery, medical oncology, radiation, radiology, pathology, and psychology. Current understanding of screening, epidemiology and prevention strategies will be discussed. Emphasis will be given to emerging technologies which improve our ability to provide highly personalized breast cancer management through improved understanding of tumor biology and genetics. Active areas of most promising research and active clinical trials will be discussed. The format of this program will consist of lectures and case studies. Expert faculty will serve on a breast cancer tumor board at the end of each session to interactively discuss the multidisciplinary perspectives on the evaluation and treatment of patients at high risk for breast cancer and those with early stage and advanced disease. Therapeutic interventions with areas of current clinical controversy will be highlighted. Target Audience This program has been designed for primary care physicians, obstetricians, gynecologists, internists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gynecological oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiologists, nurses, and any other clinicians involved in the management and treatment of patients with breast cancer. Learning Objectives Describe genetics, epidemiology, prevention, and novel risk biomarkers Discuss pathological features of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) and other high risk lesions Identify optimal multidisciplinary approaches allowing patients to achieve successful breast conservation Define optimal breast surveillance and advances in screening patients including mammography, MRI, and ultrasound

3 Explain methods for minimally invasive biopsy techniques and preoperative tumor localization Define oncoplastic surgical approaches to allow for successful cancer control while maintaining normal breast appearance including nipple sparing mastectomy Discuss promising techniques for non-surgical breast tumor ablation Summarize the newest advances in breast reconstruction Evaluate sentinel node biopsy and current management of the axilla Identify novel targets for systemic therapy Assess recommendations for adjuvant systemic chemotherapy and hormonal therapy Outline the role of individual tumor assessment using genetic analysis to allow for personalized approach to systemic therapy recommendations Describe the latest advances in radiation therapy approaches including intraoperative radiotherapy Evaluate special breast cancer considerations in young women Accreditation The College of of Columbia University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
