3 Metastatic colorectal cancer: from disease biology to clinical management Overview This educational activity is aimed to medical oncologists who want to enlarge their knowledge on the biology of colorectal cancer, to become familiar with molecular pathology of colorectal cancer and to explore new systemic treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer (mcrc) patients. With this in mind, small groups of participants, with homogeneous level of knowledge and experience in the treatment of mcrc will be involved. The preceptorship course will include different sessions, specifically dedicated to the molecular biology of colorectal cancer, the current standard of care for mcrc patients and the recent developments in colorectal cancer basic and translational research. Learning objectives By attending this practice teaching course, participants will be able to: Describe the current knowledge of molecular biology of colorectal cancer Review the standards of care for metastatic colorectal cancer patients Define major achievements in basic and clinical research on colorectal cancer Target audience Medical oncologists with experience in the management of metastatic colorectal cancer, who want to enlarge their knowledge on the biology of the disease and on the latest developments in colorectal cancer basic and clinical research.
