3 Intended Audience This conference is designed for individuals who are involved in cancer treatment and education of cancer patients: physicians, nurses, radiation therapists, medical dosimetrists, nurse practitioners, clinical research associates, health educators, social workers, pharmacists, psychologists and other interested health care professionals involved in cancer care. Learning Objectives/Purpose This conference is designed to educate and prepare physicians, nurses, radiation therapists, pharmacists, and other health care providers in issues relating to the treatment of colorectal cancer. At the end of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Identify the history, incidence, prevalence, risk factors and screening tools for colorectal cancer. 2. Explain the role genetics plays in colorectal cancer. 3. Identify the surgical options, surgical complications, and post-operative care for patients with colorectal cancer. 4. Explain the types of adjuvant chemotherapy used to treat colorectal cancer, including the most common acute and long-term side effects and complications related to chemotherapy treatment, the recommended management of these symptoms and follow-up care. 5. Discuss the role of radiation therapy in the treatment of colorectal cancer, including acute and long-term side effects. 6. Explain the different non-surgical techniques available to ablate metastases, including complications associated with these techniques. 7. List the different types of medically managed chemotherapy treatment options for metastatic colorectal cancer, including targeted and novel therapies. 8. Discuss the management and care of colostomy/ileostomy, including post-operative complications for patients with colorectal cancer. WNA-CEAP Designation Statement Aspirus, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. Participants must attend the entire program and complete the evaluation in order to receive contact hours. This program awards 6.5 contact hours. No partial credit will be awarded. Statement of Accreditation Aspirus Wausau Hospital is accredited by the Wisconsin Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. AMA/PRA Designation Statement Aspirus Wausau Hospital designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit Designation Statements This program awards 7.5 continuing education credits for ARRT and MDCB. The Michigan Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education.

4 Pharmacy Continuing Education Requirements: This activity is structured to meet knowledge-based educational needs and acquire factual knowledge. Information in knowledge-type activities is based on evidence as accepted in the literature by the health care professions. Pharmacy continuing education (PCE) credit will be earned based on participation in this activity. Attendance and participation are required before obtaining PCE credit. Any individual who is more than 10 minutes late to an activity or leaves an activity early will not be granted PCE credit. This procedure will be strictly enforced, so please plan accordingly. Participants must complete an activity evaluation and post test with a passing score of 70 percent or greater. If all requirements are met, participants will receive pharmacy continuing education credit in the following manner. Partial credit will not be awarded. Please allow 60 days for processing. Pharmacists: CPE Monitor is a national, collaborative effort by ACPE and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) to provide an electronic system for pharmacists to track their completed PCE credits. MPA, as an ACPE-accredited provider, is required to report pharmacist PCE credit using this new tracking system. Pharmacist participants must provide their NABP e-profile identification number and date of birth (in MMDD format) when they register for a CPE activity or complete activity evaluations. It will be the responsibility of the pharmacist to provide the correct information (i.e., e-profile identification number and date of birth in MMDD format). If this information is not provided, NABP and ACPE prohibit MPA from issuing CPE credit. Online access to their inventory of completed credits will allow pharmacists to easily monitor their compliance with CPE requirements and print statements of credit. Therefore, MPA will not provide printed statements of credit to pharmacists.
