EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Highlight currently proposed endoscopic quality guidelines. Discuss the practical issues and management of IBD in pregnancy. Formulate an evidence-based approach to IBD by utilizing new therapies. Discuss fecal transplantation in current GI practice. Understand management options for IBD patients beyond biological treatment. Understand the diagnostic workup and management of difficult-to-treat GERD. Understand the current guidelines for preprocedure management of patients on anticoagulation and antiplatelet agents. Describe the GI motility disorders in which the smart pill has found diagnostic applicability. Describe the different endoscopic imaging techniques for the detection of dysplasia in Barrett s esophagus, and detection of adenoma within colon polyps. Enumerate different tests currently being used to support diagnosis of IBS, including recently revised ROME IV criteria. Discuss the current endoscopic techniques for the management of GERD. Describe endoscopic treatment that serves as adjuvant therapy or alternative surgery. Identify the indications and role of advanced endoscopic techniques in interventional EUS. Discuss endoscopic methods for management of perforations, leaks and fistulae. Identify the current indications and role of choledoschoscopy in management of biliary and pancreatic diseases. Enumerate the mechanism by which Hepatitis B can be cured. List the difficult-to-treat hepatitis C patient groups and the new oral agents accepted for their treatment. Describe current UNOS Region 4 transplant outcomes. Determine whether liver fibrosis and cirrhosis are reversible. Describe the current diagnostic and treatment approaches for fatty liver disease.
