2 Cancer Screening For The Practicing Clinician Overview Recently there have been a number of changes in cancer screening and a perceived need to re-educate primary care providers on lung cancer screening, colon cancer screening, as well as changes in the recommended approach to breast and prostate cancer screening. Many clinicians are not implementing colon cancer screening guidelines even though they have remained consistent, and others are not aware of the advances in screening from a molecular perspective and radiographic perspective that increases detection. The 2016 Winthrop Symposium on Cancer Screening for the Practicing Clinician will address the divergence between current screening guidelines and existing practice, as well as the basis of existing controversy regarding screening modalities, and will provide primary care clinicians with an aptitude to understand and apply guidelines to assist their patients in making cancer screening decisions. Learning Objectives At the end of this Symposium, learners should be able to: Describe current cancer screening guidelines Recognize pro and con arguments surrounding breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer screening controversies. Apply evidence to make personalized screening recommendations in clinical practice Target Audience Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Advance Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants, Fellows, Residents. CME Accreditation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians through 3/31/2019.
