By combining a multidisciplinary academic model with patient-centered care, the cancer institute will serve as the hub for the delivery of coordinated, leading-edge cancer care that is convenient and accessible.

5 Embracing Innovation Novel Technologies That Transform Care 1 st in Florida to offer the revolutionary CyberKnife M6 System Jupiter Medical Center s ongoing evolution as a preeminent health care resource is vividly reflected in our commitment to make patientcentered care, state-of-the-art technologies and clinical excellence available to our patients. Our existing cancer center was the first in Florida to offer the revolutionary CyberKnife M6 System. This ingeniously engineered radiotherapy device provides the practiced precision of a surgeon s scalpel to remove tumors without the incision, anesthesia, hospital stay or long recovery time surgery requires. Jupiter Medical Center is also one of only a few cancer centers to offer Electron Beam IntraOperative Radiation Therapy (e-iort). Our highly specialized radiation oncologists use this revolutionary technology to deliver radiation in the operating room immediately after a tumor is removed, dramatically reducing the number of radiotherapy sessions needed in some cases, from several weeks to a single day. Safety and outcomes are improved, and patients return to their normal lives more quickly. We will soon be using e-iort to treat gynecological, colorectal, lung and gastrointestinal cancers. One of the most advanced technologies we have is the IBM Watson tool for cancer care. IBM Watson for Oncology is a cognitive computing platform to help physicians deliver personalized, evidence-based cancer treatments. Watson for Oncology increases efficiency for oncologists by scoring and ranking medical literature, and quickly summarizing patient records. This enables oncologists to deliver quality, evidencebased treatment options by analyzing massive volumes of medical literature to identify individualized treatment options and scaling access to oncology expertise. Watson for Oncology draws from more than 300 medical journals, more than 200 textbooks, and nearly 15 million pages of text to provide recommendations about different drug options and administration instructions. Watson also ranks recommendations based on evidence, linking to peer reviewed studies and clinical guidelines. Jupiter Medical Center is the first hospital in the country to acquire this technology. State-of-the-art technologies like these are a distinctive feature of our cancer care and will be a cornerstone of the Anderson Family Cancer Institute.

6 Propelling Progress Raising the Bar on Research-Driven Therapies Every step forward in the fight against cancer begins with research from the lab studies that tease out the cellular secrets of tumors, to the clinical trials that evaluate the safety and efficacy of experimental treatments. Jupiter Medical Center aims to build a research model of health care that offers patients direct access to urgently needed new treatments for many serious health conditions. Physicians and clinical team members can come together in the new, high-tech education conference center and collaborate on the latest approaches to cancer prevention and treatment. Our clinical research groups have built close relationships with pharmaceutical companies and renowned health care institutions such as Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai New York. Philanthropic gifts toward cancer research will allow us to participate in a greater array of clinical trials, purchase advanced tools to analyze complex data, and recruit additional, outstanding physician-scientists to our team. 7 Caring for the Whole Person A Full Spectrum of Healing Resources Cancer care isn t just about treating the disease it s about healing the person. Building on Jupiter Medical Center s long-standing focus on patient-centered care, the Anderson Family Cancer Institute s Oncology Health and Wellness Program will nurture the health and also support the recovery of our patients at every stage of their cancer journey, along with their families and caregivers. Our innovative prehab (prehabilitation) program will help newly diagnosed patients prepare for treatment by building health and stamina. Patients will also have access to early palliative services; physical, speech and occupational therapy; counseling; and support groups. Beautiful, specially outfitted spaces will be home to a broad array of integrative medicine resources such as massage therapy, reiki, nutritional counseling, acupuncture and meditation. Distinctive features also include an on-site boutique with professionals who can help with wig selection and fitting. Made possible by generous donors and housed within the Anderson Family Cancer Institute, the Oncology Health and Wellness Center will be designed in every detail to nourish each patient s mind, body and spirit.
