2 COURSE OVERVIEW This summite launches an annual forum dedicated to understanding the causes of early age onset colorectal cancer; reducing the incidence and increasing survival of the disease as well as improving the quality of life of survivors and their families. The course is designed for Early Age Onset (EAO) colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors as well as physicians and scientists who are interested in advancing their understanding of the rapidly increasing incidence of rectal and colon cancer prior to 50 years of age. The program will provide an opportunity to hear leading clinicians and scientists on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, genomics and lifestyle challenges of EAO-CRC. The course will include lectures as well as workshops and panel discussions designed to facilitate multidisciplinary consensus regarding the priorities of EAO-CRC prevention, clinical care and research moving forward. EDUCATIONAL AND SUMMIT OBJECTIVES Review the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of young adult colorectal cancers. Discuss the current state of knowledge on the causes of young adult colorectal cancer and identify specific gaps in that knowledge. Provide an evidence based framework for reducing risk, increasing early stage diagnosis and improving treatment and quality of life for these patients.
