1 The Division of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Cyclotron Facilities, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, AUBMC presents the First AUBMC Theranostics Conference: See What You Treat Endorsed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Arab Society of Nuclear Medicine (ARSNM), Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC), Lebanese Society of Nuclear Medicine (LSNM), Lebanese Society of Radiology (LSR), Lebanese Society of Medical Oncology (LSMO) and the Lebanese Urology Society (LUS) Overview The field of Theranostics is rapidly evolving. Theranostics, derived from Therapy and Diagnostics, is the use of radionuclide-labeled agents that specifically permit us to diagnose disease in patients and then use identical or closely related agents to treat these diseases. Nuclear medicine plays an integral part in this field as it aids in selecting patients in whom targeted therapy would be most effective, thus paving the way for personalized medicine especially in oncology. In addition to research, the advancement of theranostics requires optimal patient selection, such as knowledge of all prognostic factors, optimization of the therapeutic index by prospective dosimetry, the ability to pharmacologically manipulate target expression, use of cytostatic treatments between and after radionuclide therapy, and optimal patient follow-up using accurate, reliable markers of therapeutic efficacy. Our conference includes outstanding speakers from all over the world giving insights into their research and clinical work in the field of Nuclear Medicine, creating new ideas and concepts on the way to personalized medicine. Date and Location This activity will be held at the Issam Fares Auditorium, AUB on November 10 11, Target Audience This activity targets radiologists, oncologists, urologists, physicists, technicians and students. Objectives At the end of this activity, participants will be able to: Introduce the principle of Theranostics and its potential role in guiding cancer therapy. Describe the role of molecular imaging in selecting potential candidates for targeted therapy in the era of personalized medicine. Review the milestones, development and advancement of Theranostics throughout the years starting from the early use of Iodine therapy in thyroid cancer to Lu-DOTATATE in small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors and Lu-PSMA in Prostate Cancer.
2 Explore different means of improving the efficacy and evidence base of therapeutic nuclear medicine. Discuss the new role of Positron emission Mammography in the detection of Breast cancer. Accreditation Statement This activity complies with the Lebanese Order of Physicians Continuing Medical Education guidelines. Online Evaluation and Certificate Evaluation forms for Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities are filled and processed online through LimeSurvey at AUB. Right after the end of the activity, you will receive an invitation to fill out the online evaluation for this activity. Upon confirming your submission and attendance, the CME office will send you by an electronic copy of your Certificate of Attendance. The evaluation and issuance of certificate will be available for one month only after the conference. Course Director Mohamad B.
