2 THE CENTRE LÉON BÉRARD Non-profit private health care facility of public interest (ESPIC), affiliated with the French National Cancer Center Federation UNICANCER which brings together 20 centers in France 100% dedicated to oncology, the Centre Léon Bérard provides on a unique area in the heart of Lyon, a global management of cancer patients and a Cancer Research Center. Its 3 objectives are: cares, research and teaching. The executive Officer, Jean-Yves Blay, is a physician, researcher and academic. Former president ( ) of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). He is the coordinator of the French clinical reference network for soft tissue and visceral sarcomas (NetSarc) affi liated with the INCa and coordinator of the European reference Network for solid tumours within the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). He is also the coordinator of the ERN EURACAN European Reference Network on Rare Adult solid Cancer. 4 RESEARCH ALL EXPERTISE ON A UNIQUE SITE TO PROGRESS FASTER The main objective of the Centre is to develop an interdisciplinary research of excellence against cancer, in association with the care activities of the Centre Léon Bérard and institutional and private partners. Over 400 scientific publications per year 15,000 M 2 dedicated to research Thanks to a 30-year development strategy, over 500 researchers work on the same site beside specialists of the hospital. This combination reinforces the continuum care-research by facilitating innovation and speed-up its access to patients for diagnoses and therapies. To facilitate innovation and accelerate its accessibility to patients, both in diagnostic and therapeutic terms, the CLB is organized in three hubs: > Basic research within the Cancer Research Center of Lyon (CRCL); > Translational research; > Clinical research. 8 translational research platforms: sequencing, immunotherapy, bioinformatics, drug modeling... A platform for the management of biological samples (PGEB) from the CLB has been certifi ed NFS since November Since early 2012 it has been hosting biological collections from the UNICANCER group. The Clinical research has been certified ISO 9001 since clinical trials sponsored by the CLB in 2016 Data 2016 Clinical research is thus one of the strengths of the institution. The Centre Léon Bérard has been certifi ed by the National Cancer Institute (INCa) as an oncology early clinical trial center since 2012 and since 2015 in children.

5 THE HOSPITAL AN INNOVATING MANAGEMENT FOR ALL The Centre Léon Bérard is a hospital 100% dedicated to oncology. Its mission is to provide an excellence and referral management to people suffering from cancer. Diagnosis: imaging technical facilities (radiology and interventional radiology), nuclear medicine, diagnostic endoscopy and biopathology unit providing anatomocytopathological and molecular biology techniques. Treatments: surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonotherapy, targeted therapy, radiotherapy, interventional radiology and endoscopy. Therapeutic and diagnostic innovation: 22% of patients managed at the Centre Léon Bérard are enrolled in clinical trials. The CLB also offers supportive cares, additional cares to the management of patients: psychology, pain, dietetics, physiotherapy, social work, adapted physical activity, socio-esthetics... Optimized Health care pathways according to pathologies (lung, breast, head and neck ) and tailored to the age of patients (children, young adults, over 70). Geographical area: the Auvergne- Rhône-Alpes region but also the whole France (Homeland and Overseas). The Centre Léon Bérard proposes all types of hospitalization: outpatient, conventional or at-home. It s been certified by the French Health authority in the V CUTTING EDGE SURGICAL unit including 11 operating theatres 8 ACCELERATORS (radiotherapy) and the only Cyberknife in the Rhône-Alpes region 1 ST ONCO-GENETICS CONSULTATION performed in France (1991)

6 CARES REFERENCE AND REFERRAL CENTER The Centre Léon Bérard is specialized in complex and rare tumours; it has 16 completely renovated inpatients units and a high tech platform. Reference, expertise and referral for: > Breast cancers > Sarcomas and rare tumours > Rare gynecological tumours > Complex digestive tumours > Thoracic tumours > Hematology > Head and neck tumours > Germ cells tumours > Metastatic kidney tumours > Non-surgical treatments for prostate cancers > Solid tumours in children > Pediatric radiotherapy > Complex radiotherapy treatments High tech equipment unique in the Rhône-Alpes region > The Cyberknife VSI System > The miniaturized Intrabeam accelerator > 2 Tomotherapy pieces of equipment > Proton therapy and SynchroCycloproton: a Lyon-Nice cooperation patient service > A fully equipped angiography Zeego Artis Q room (Interventional Radiology) > A cutting edge integrated surgical unit > Theatres dedicated to interventional procedures, endoscopy and curietherapy Partnership to the service of the population To ensure its mission of service to the population, the CLB builds partnerships: > With the Lyon university Hospitals (Hospices civils de Lyon) which provide cares for all pathologies, the CLB manages a nuclear medicine center (LUMEN) and the hematology and oncology pediatric Institute (IHOPe). > With the General Hospital in Villefranchesur-Saône, it manages the Beaujolais radiotherapy center (2 accelerators). 7 TEACHING TO TRANSFER EXCELLENCE IN ONCOLOGY Teaching and training represent a strong position of the Centre Léon Bérard. Oncology initial training and/or improvement The Centre has its own training Institute which offers each year more than 30 training courses dedicated to external health professionals: physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists In 2016, about 400 persons were trained within this Institute which offers 32 different trainings. Inhouse, more than 1,200 persons are trained each year to maintain skills and expertise in oncology. The Centre contributes to the initial training of future oncologists and paramedics by hosting medical students or residents. The Centre staff, academics, physicians and caregivers contribute to the university teaching but also to other trainings on the different specialties of the Centre Léon Bérard. 400 health professionals trained 32 trainings with the Training Institute More than 50 health professionals of the CLB transfer their knowledge Examples: > PET Positron Emission Tomography > Stereotaxy > Hypno-analgesia Data 2016

8 DONATIONS AND LEGACIES AN INCUBATOR OF INNOVATION WORKING FOR PATIENTS Donations and legacies to the Centre Léon Bérard are essential resources to fund research and innovating programmes. Apart from research, some donations help improving quality of life of patient, children and adults: funding of artistic workshops, pain management, intervention of a socio-beautician and a hairdresser for patients...through a call for donations campaigns, sponsorship, donations from partner organizations or through the organization of events such as the Marche des Lumières (March of Lights).
