1 2nd ANNUAL Florida Oncology Symposium: Clinical Pathways to Personalized Medicine The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Naples, Florida

2 Florida Oncology Symposium: Clinical Pathways to Personalized Medicine The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Naples, Florida COURSE DESCRIPTION Our second symposium offers learning opportunities and networking for those clinicians wanting to learn more about the latest clinical research applications to patient care in the diagnosis and management of various cancers: Hematology, Genitourinary Cancers, Melanoma, HPV and Sarcoma. In addition, an update on the progress of Moffitt s newly developed clinical pathways will be offered as a concurrent breakout session. These pathways have been developed to assist and to improve clinical outcomes in these disease sites: breast, prostate, lung, acute leukemia, sarcoma and pancreas. The objective is to catalyze clinician consensus and to reduce clinician variation toward the best possible outcome given a patient s unique clinical factors, genetics, and personal preferences. These pathways are primarily designed to support the administration of therapies proven to optimize efficacy and reduce toxicity, and secondarily to manage cost when prudent choices between clinically similar alternatives can drive more affordable, quality care. We are proud to share the early progress toward clinical pathways development with the conference participants to achieve an even better product by incorporating related feedback and collaboration. TARGET AUDIENCE This educational activity is planned to meet the educational needs of clinical and surgical oncologists in both academia and private practice. Primary care physicians and nurses in oncology will benefit from the presentations and small group discussions in the latest cancer treatment modalities. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to: Discuss circulating tumor cells and how they can serve as a new platform to provide personalized medicine. To tailor therapies for chronic leukemias. Understand how HPV vaccination can be used to prevent different cancers in both women and men. Assess the current role of robotic cystectomy in the management of localized bladder cancer. Evaluate management options for prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. Describe new drugs and targets that are important in early phase clinical trials. Discuss the diagnosis and treatment of GIST, soft tissue and bone sarcomas. Recognize how clinical pathways use a patient s genetic signature to formulate personalized therapy. Recognize the benefits of immunotherapy for melanoma and hematologic malignancies. ACCREDITATION Physicians USF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. USF Health designates this educational activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses The University of South Florida College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. A maximum of contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing education activity.
