1 Cancer Liaison Physician Report Standard 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 Years of data is from 2-21 Melanoma 213 With the Annual Report for 214 on Melanoma, Dr. Konrad the Cancer Liaison Physician for the Mercy Cancer Committee asked that the data that was put together in 213 be included in this annual report. Mercy Cancer Center Data is submitted to the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB). Reports are generated from the NCDB to compare with Mercy Cancer Center. NCDB is from 141 other hospitals. For Mercy Cancer Center from the years of 2-21 the total number of melanoma patients diagnosed was 347 patients. Age: Mercy's age group of 7-79 had the largest number of patients with 74 patients. Compared to the other hospitals, the largest age was the 21% overall. Gender: At Mercy there was 183 males diagnosed with Melanoma while there was only 164 females diagnosed with melanoma. This is a rural farming area so that would account for the increase in the males with melanoma. Histology: At Mercy there was 149 cases of Superficial Spreading Melanoma. 65 cases were Malignant Melanoma, nos and 54 case of Malignant Melanoma in Hutchinsons Melanotic Freckle, and 25 cases of Nodular Melanoma, and 1 other specified types. Compare this to the other hospitals, the highest % was the Malignant Melanoma, nos at 59%. Superficial Spreading Melanoma was at 21%.
2 Stages for Mercy's Data: Stages Number of Cases Stage (In-situ) 59 Stage I 187 Stage II 53 Stage III 16 Stage IV 7 Unknown 25 Comparing the stage data to the other hospitals, the Stage I had a 4% rate. Stage O was at a 23% rate. The unknown rate was 12%. This is in line with Mercy Data.
