On behalf of The Melanoma Research Foundation, we respectfully request your consideration of a Corporate Sponsorship for our sixth annual Mela-No-More KENTucky Derby Party, a fundraiser in memory of Kent McCullough. In celebration of our 6 th anniversary, we are excited to offer you our Corporate Sponsorship opportunities. This event has historically drawn hundreds of attendees.or, as a sponsor, hundreds of potential new customers. In addition to providing significant community exposure, your sponsorship emphasizes your commitment to supporting this popular local event. In addition, please ask us about our unique and creative sponsorship ideas. This year s event will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Northbeach Restaurant & Bayside Bar in Dewey Beach, Delaware. The benefit will raise funds and awareness, while providing an atmosphere of fun including a raffle, silent auction and our own Kentucky Derby festivities. All proceeds will benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation, and your contribution will be fully tax deductible. The Melanoma Research Foundation, a national non-profit health organization, has as its mission melanoma research, education and advocacy. As the voice of the melanoma community, their goal is to grow the base of support, gain wider public attention, and raise the funds to provide new, effective treatments and find a cure for melanoma. They are also committed to the expansion of educational programs for patients and their families, as well as for healthcare professionals who are involved in their care and treatment. 3 The Mela-No-More organization invites you and your company to be a part of its annual KENTucky Derby Fundraiser to benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation. FACTS ON MELANOMA: Why Research is Critical Every hour of every day, someone dies of melanoma in the US Melanoma strikes people of all ages (including pediatrics), all races, all economic levels and both sexes Melanoma represents 4% of all skin cancers, but 79% of all skin cancer deaths. (American Cancer Society) It is one of the fastest growing cancers in the US and worldwide and the number of new melanomas diagnosed in the US is increasing Exposure to tanning beds before age 35 increases a person s risk of developing melanoma by 75%, and occasional use of tanning beds can triple their chance The National Cancer Institute estimates that about 60,000 Americans were diagnosed with melanoma in 2005 and about 7,800 people died from the disease The incidence of recurrence among patients previously diagnosed with melanoma is estimated to be 10% In all persons age 15 29, melanoma is the second most common cancer Women years melanoma is primary cause of cancer death Women years melanoma is number 2 cause of death (after breast cancer) In 1940 the risk of developing melanoma in one s lifetime was 1 in 1,500, in in 250, in in 75 and it is estimated that by 2010, 1 in 50 When melanoma is found early, there is almost a 100% survival rate; when melanoma reaches Stage IV, the median life expectancy is 6 months There have been no significant advances in medical treatment or survival of melanoma in the past 30 years

To educate patients and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.
