Emphasis was placed on the area residents' opposition to this amendment, due to noise generated from the repair and maintenance of rail cars. The suggestion was made that noise would not be substantially different than that generated by the repair and maintenance of farm equipment. It was pointed out that farm industrial uses in the rural area are, essentially, for providing services to neighbouring farmers. One member of Council asserted that the railway is a vital part of the farming economy. The motion was then put and DEFEATED Opposed: Councillors Boyes, Gibson, Lee, Ross, Warawa, and Wiebe

(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, be awarded to Bayhill Contracting Ltd. for the tendered price of $91,378. R CARRIED..2 Infrastructure Program Agreement - Atkinson Reservoir Project ( ) Moved by Councillor Lee, seconded by Councillor Sweeney that, as recommended in Report No. FIN dated October 24, 1996, from the Director of Finance, the City enter into an Infrastructure Program Agreement with the Province of British Columbia for the Atkinson Reservoir project.
