1 2018 Reunion: 2018 SEAHORSE ANNUAL DINNER

2 A total of 50 people enjoyed the Annual Dinner at the Elwood Sailing Club that was catered for by Wee Kitchen staffed by Barbara & Franckie. Commodore Ross Lloyd diligently delivered the drinks behind the bar & his wife Barbara along with manager Amanda & Lucy Bueno organized the very successful evening. We were all fascinated by our club member and guest speaker,greg Doyle & his skiing adventures in Japan & Antarctica. The magnificent films & photos made us all envious of his full-time hobby/business. To see further great photos & experience this world-wide never-ending winter sport just google the website Brian Robinson ex-member ( ) and Paper Tiger skipper made a book presentation to the club to commemorate the 50 years of international competition between Australia &New Zealand in Paper Tigers. The club has hosted three of these Trans-Tasman. The first in 1978, second in 1985 finally John Dodd showed photos commencing from 1925 tracing the evolution of the Seahorse yacht from the Canadian Peterborough canoe. Information about this history was supplied by canoe enthusiastic Steve Clark from Sydney who has presented a copy of his research to the club. The 100 year anniversary of the founding of the Elwood Sailing Club is due on 24 th May 2024.At the instigation of John Dodd, the commodore has embraced this and work is underway to compile a club history for its centenary year. Our members held a minutes silence for all those Elwood Sailing Club members who had passed on and in particular Ian Atkinson. We were pleased to welcome old Seahorse Yachties-Daryl Martin (90 years) & Gary Sheard (80+years) to the night.

The letter box is a wonderful place these days. can never be the same.i am holding on OK these days but mobility is limited.i will be with you in memories. Leanne Scott- Hi,my apologies,i will not be able to make this night.esc has fond memories for my late husband,martin Scott.Please forward my apologies to John Dodd and hope I can get there next year... John W Gill- Would much rather be at the Elwood Sailing Club Annual Dinner,but,alas I will be in Epworth Hospital getting vertebras C1 & C2 fused.that means I won t be there this year but thanks for the invitation. Michael Franck (E24 Larrikin )- Please note my apologies and best wishes to the Elwood Seahorse Veterans. Olive Prior- Thank you for the invitation to this year s dinner but unfortunately Olive Prior will be unable to attend due to a medical appointment on the 2 nd of November which precludes any activity after it for several days. Mum sends her thanks and hopes that everyone has a terrific night -Scott Prior. Mark Mulvaney- I advise that I will not be attending the 2018 Reunion Dinner on 2 nd November 2018,Thanks Geoff Craig- Hi John,Unfortunately I won t be able to make the Seahorse Dinner this year.the 125s are off to Stawell Y C to compete in the Western Region Regatta,so a great opportunity to sail on Lake Fyans and relax in the Grampians.Hope the evening goes well.good Winds Geoff Taylor:- Sorry unable to attend.moving House! Fay & Alan Richardson- Apologies, Sally needs us at Forrest in the shop! Bryan Proven- Sorry can t make it this year. Apologies to all. Malcolm Proven- In the US. See you next year.

4 Greg Alward- I was so looking forward to being with you all this year and was hoping that the invitation would arrive showing the 9 th November. Bugger! I will be in Melbourne for a school reunion at Mentone Grammar on the 9 th and then Paynesville for an Apex reunion on the 11 th.sorry I can t be there on the 2 nd, I will try for 2019, which should be my 50 th Anniversary with ESC. Ted Montfort- Sorry I can t make it. I will be cruising the South Pacific.
