St Michael s presents Thank you for the music! Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University, Clayton Thursday 30 August, pm The students and staff of St Michael s welcome you to the 2012 bi-annual concert Thank you for the music. Sit back, allow yourself to be taken on a musical journey where we unfold the wonderfully talented children from Prep to Grade Six. Synopsis The concert begins in the family home of Sue, Phil and their children Becky, Charlie and Bella. They go on a driving holiday to visit grandparents, Nana Pat and Pa John. Along their journey, they listen to a number of CDs that dad has chosen. Not everyone is happy about dad s selection but they still listen to the music and the stories behind them. When they return from their holiday, the whole family agrees that the music was a great idea and made a long trip a whole lot shorter!
The Singers The children from St Michael s from Prep to Grade Six. The Cast Mum (Sue) Hi! My name is Georgia Lee, I m playing the role of the family mum (Sue). Mum is a former performer who has lost most of her talent but still dreams about being on Broadway. She over exaggerates on a lot of things including her dance moves. Even though she loves performing her family will always come first. Georgia Lee When I found out about the concert auditions, a thrill went down my spine. I was sooo excited and nervous. I just wanted the part so badly! The concert is here so settle down and buckle your seat belts and enjoy your trip at Thank You For The Music. Dad (John) Lachlan Canning Hello my name is Lachlan and my part in the concert is the Dad, John. John is a cheesy dad and husband who loves family road trips. He enjoys going to visit Sue s parents, Mick and Pat. He and Mick like to talk about their trips and the football, but Pat does not like John that much. John loves listening to his favorite music on road trips. I hope you all enjoy the whole performance! Eldest Child (Becky) Hi my name is Matilda and tonight I will be playing the role of Becky. Becky is the eldest of three children, has attitude and thinks she is better then everyone. Becky never leaves home without her iphone and loves texting! Matilda Smith When I heard the news that I got the role as Becky I was so excited, when we got the scripts I thought how am I going to be able to learn this. I was nervous the first time I performed in front of people, but I overcame that and now I can perform in front of anyone. I hope you enjoy the show!!!!!
Charlie - Second child Gabe Crestani Hi my name is Gabe. I play the part of Charlie, the middle child of the family. Charlie has a bit of attitude and doesn t like his two sisters. He spends most of his spare time on video games. He is not very keen on going on the trip with his family but after a while he starts to enjoy the trip. When I was told I got the part I was very excited and a little nervous. I hope you have a great time and enjoy our concert. Bella - Youngest child Carmen Ubermanowicz Hi my name is Carmen and tonight I play the part of Bella. Bella is the youngest child in the family and is quite a spoilt brat! Bella loves her teddy, Ted. Bella always gets her way, which makes her quite a brat. Bella loves being with family and somehow always gets what she wants, no matter what it is. Charlie her brother isn t as bad as her sister, although he loves to fight and annoy Becky throughout the holiday! Hope you enjoy the show!! Mick - (Grandpa) Heath Devine Hi my name is Heath and I play the role of Mick who is the pa of Becky, Charlie and Bella. Mick is a very enthusiastic man who s very kind to his wife, Pat. Mick is a bit country like with his clothing. When I got told that I had the part I was so happy and now I am feeling pretty nervous because there will be so many people that I will be acting in front of tonight. I hope you like our very entertaining concert! Pat - (Grandma) Hi my name Julia and tonight I ll be playing the role of Nan (Pat). Nan lives in an old caravan and travels Australia with her husband, Mick. She is an old Broadway fan which is where her daughter, Sue, gets her love for the stage. She also dislikes her son-in-law, John, which will hopefully get a few laughs. Julia Taylor When I was in Prep my buddy had a lead role in one of St Michael s concerts. Ever since then, I have always hoped to get role. It s been a long wait and I was very surprised when I got the role, but was excited too. I hope you enjoy the journey!

Whole School Finale: Thank you for the music I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore If I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before But I have a talent, a wonderful thing 'Cause everyone listens when I start to sing I'm so grateful and proud All I want is to sing it out loud Chorus: So I say Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing Thanks for all the joy they're bringing Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty What would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music For giving it to me Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk She says I began to sing long before I could talk And I've often wondered, how did it all start? Who found out that nothing can capture a heart Like a melody can? Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan Chorus I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair I wanna sing it out to everybody What a joy, what a life, what a chance! Chorus
Special Thanks The parents and helpers who have very generously given their time to help with costumes and props. All the staff for their hard work and enthusiasm into making this an outstandingly entertaining concert for our children and their families. To you, our audience for coming along this evening and supporting the children. We hope you have enjoyed Thank you for the music as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
