7 Causes

8 Lifting objects hurts your back. It's not necessarily how much you lift, it's how you lift. When you lift, squat close to the object with your back straight and head up. Stand, using your legs to lift the load. Do not twist or bend your body while lifting.

9 Back pain and injuries Back pain after a trauma, such as an accident or fall may indicate a bone fracture or other injury. Disc degeneration, diseases, infections, and even inherited conditions can cause back pain.

10 Overweight people suffer more back pain Most common among people who are out of shape, especially weekend warriors who engage in vigorous activity after sitting around all week. Obesity stresses the back. Staying fit helps prevent back pain.

11 Poor Posture The longer your spine is not in alignment, the more pressure it receives. That pressure can create inflammation that leads to chronic back pain. If you have chronic back pain, adjusting your posture should be a priority.

14 Always sit up straight to prevent back pain? If you sit a lot, try this a few times a day: Lean back in your chair with your feet on the floor and a slight curve in your back. Even better: Try standing for part of the day, while on the phone or while reading work materials.

15 Pregnancy & Backache 50% of women experience low back pain during pregnancy. Factors: standing, sitting, forward bending, lifting, and walking aggravate the back pain Characteristic: radiating pain into the thigh and buttocks. Management: The avoidance of high impact, weight-bearing activities and extensive twisting with lifting, single-leg stance postures, stair climbing, and repetitive motions at or near the endranges of back or hip motion can ease the pain.

16 Warning signs Potentially life-threatening problem are bowel and/or bladder incontinence or progressive weakness in the legs. Severe back pain (such as pain that is bad enough to interrupt sleep) that occurs with other signs of severe illness (e.g. fever, unexplained weight loss) may also indicate a serious underlying medical condition.

The backache of Rhus is better from pressure, but worse in bed. The Rhus patient likes to lie on sometime hard. Rhus seems to be especially suitable to affections of the deeper muscles of the back. There are great pains, dull,bruised, and aching on attempting to rise, showing,thus, the aggravation on commencing motion. It is more suitable to the chronic forms of lumbago. Relieved by bending backwards.

36 Calcarea fluorica If Rhus-tox fail then it works Good clinical reputation for curing backache, and especially the backache simulating spinal irritation. It has pain in the lower part of the back, with a fullness or burning pain. Lumbago worse on beginning go move and relieved by continued motion, or lumbago from stains.

37 Nux vomica Good remedy for office workers, back pain due to long work or sitting. Pain in the lumbar region worse at night when lying in bed, of a drawing, lacerating or bruised character, with perhaps sudden stitches in the back, and a characteristic is that the patient must sit up in bed to turn over. It has also a morning backache, and the longer the patient lies in the bed the more the backaches. The backache brought on by sexual excesses. Stiff neck and torticollis may also be benefited by Nux.
