2 Avance NPWT with Safetac technology The Avance system with Safetac is designed to minimise unnecessary patient pain and stress. Dressings with Safetac prevent skin stripping and blistering. They can also prevent maceration to the periwound 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 area. These all contribute towards a delayed healing.
3 Safetac technology proven less pain, trauma and stress Pain causes stress. Stress delays healing. 8 2, 3, 7 Clinical studies have proven conclusively that stress causes physiological responses that delay healing and that all forms of pain, or even the anticipation of it, are significant causes of stress. Any potential impediment to healing in NPWT takes on added importance, particularly if the therapy was chosen for speedier or effective healing in the first place. Safetac technology is clinically proven to minimise pain and reduce stress. Avance with Safetac offers clinicians a unique option to optimise healing by minimising some of the pain and stress patients experience during NPWT. Chronic wound pain Wound pain at dressing change Anxiety S T R E S S Delayed healing Decreased quality of life Stress for any reason, including wound pain and anticipation of it, can trigger a stress spiral. 8 Adherence Sealing Skin stripping SAFETAC TECHNOLOGY Safetac soft silicone adhesive conforms to the skin s pores, sealing the wound. Exudate has nowhere to go, stopping the spread and helping to prevent maceration. 10 Electron microscope picture of a dressing with Safetac after removal. 11 Safetac is in contact with much more skin area, spreading peel forces to avoid skin being stripped at dressing removal. TRADITIONAL ADHESIVE Traditional adhesives only adhere to the top of skin pores, and must stick harder to stay in place. Exudate is able to travel through the dips and valleys between pores, spreading outward and increasing the risk for maceration. Electrone microscope of acrylat adhesive after dressing removal. Because of the force needed to stick to the tops of pores and the smaller contact area, sheer forces can strip skin at removal.
