Child mortality was reduced from 54 per 1 live births in 199 to 36 in 2 To achieve MDG4 by 215, the 2 child mortality rate level of 36 per 1 live births will require another 5% reduction to 18 per 1 Immunization can only account for 1/3 of the reduction if RV and pneumococcal vaccines are introduced Such new vaccine introductions double and triple the national budget for vaccine purchases, respectively.
