1 Your child s cold: What you need to know Tips, facts, and important information on how to safely and effectively care for your child when they re suffering from a cold It s normal for children to catch a cold more than once a year In fact, children average anywhere from 2-9 colds every year Most colds are caused by viruses Viral infections won t be helped by treatment with antibiotics 22 million school days are lost every year due to the common cold While there is no cure for the common cold, managing the symptoms can help your child feel better Hydration is very important when managing your child s cold symptoms Hydration allows mucus to move more freely through your child s body to help relieve the discomfort of congestion Additionally, hydration prevents fluid loss, which can occur when children are sick Children need plenty of rest and relaxation to help them recover Children need rest to let their bodies focus on fighting off their cold BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE MAKERS OF Continued on back»

2 What are some other ways to treat your child s cold symptoms?
