2 Institute & Centre Deaf Leaders Institute for Development Education & Technology - DLI@DET (A Unit of DEAF LEADERS) Ladies Shadhi Club donated the chair with table to our centre The Special classes for deaf students at our centre Deaf Leaders Institute Numbers of students joined in training programme from April 2009 to March 2010 were 25 students and special tution for careers were 40 students. Special Course: Provides a bilingual / bicultural learning environment for Deaf, Deafened and hard of hearing individuals. Offers literacy instruction for English, Employment preparation, Maths, Computer based learning, Sign Language, Business training, Self- Employment and Deaf led Community Based Rehabilitation (D-CBR) Higher Education: Students are guided to acquire higher Education and those who have failed in any class are given special tuitions with emphasis on word meaning, sentence structure and better language management. Mr. Chandran has donated a computer to our centre Mr. Sethu has encouraging to supports our centre noble cause Resource Library: A central library with a collection of videos and looks which can be borrowed by other schools also. The library includes a range of topic, such as Indian Sign Language, Interpreting, Children stories, English Grammar and teaching guidelines to teach deaf children, leaderships, poetry and more We also have a small Library which has more books of International standards for learning more about the above programme by the students. Sing language Development Sign Language teaching is also conducted for better communication. 5 Visit to school Awareness program Resource Persons to Students of Deaf Schools at Kerala At DEAF LEADERS, Where DEAF TEAM conducts concept based training programme for the corporate and also works for the upliftment of hearing impaired. Their dream is to see people with any challenge walk shoulder to shoulder with everyone in the society. Awareness programme on Deaf Empowering through Education were the important topics at School for the Deaf, at Kochi, Kerala and the same was trained by K. Murali, Director, DEAF LEADERS, Ms. Kajal Dhawan and Mr.Samsu as Volunteers. The vital aspect was 250 approx students learnt about the knowledge & empowerment.. Top leaders given light the lamp Mr. Murali & Ms. Kajal s presentation All Kerala Association of the Deaf were conducts two days State of the Conference and workshop to be held at Kottayam, Kerala on 9 th & 10 th October K.Murali, Director of Deaf Leaders, and Kajal Dhawan, a young achiever from New Delhi, who is hearing impaired, attend this conference to take presentation and drama show to deaf peoples for resolved the problem and make positive things for for the hearing impaired and associations that employed people with the disability in Kerala to assess the situation in the country and establish links with the institutions. The programme, We Must Change Now was aimed at creating awareness on hearing impairment and the importance of positive deaf peoples and personality development among the youth. Drama show to explain unity strength. AKAD members interests to watch our presentation and drama. Many polities and ministers of Kerala attended this function. Ms. Kajal teaches to them Empowerment of Women.

8 TAMIL NADU T 20 CRICKET TOURNAMENT OF THE DEAF Sprots We are happy to inform to you that World Disability Day 1 st Tamil Nadu Cricket T 20 Championship of the Deaf conducted on 12 th & 13 th December 2009 at Bharthiar University, Coimbatore. This was jointly co-sponsored by CBM and Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity, Main sponsored by Mak Lubricants, organised by DEAF LEADERS and supported by Coimbatore District Cricket Association and Coimbatore District Assocation for the Deaf, Coimbatore, Also major supported by Bharthiar University. It is very first time in India to conduct Tamil Nadu 20 Championship of the Deaf in Tamil Nadu. Almost all the 12 districts of Tamil Nadu Respresented in the Cricket trophy. The total number of participants was 180 consiting of hearing impaired from the 12 districts of Tamil Nadu. On 12 th December Shri Prof. G. Swaminathan, Vice Chancellor, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore inaugurated the programme. He welcomed the gatering. He said that all arrangements were very good and each team participants dress, cap etc were very beautiful which provided by CBM. Food, Accommodation and Trophies which were provided by Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity. Sri. Rtn. MD. Chella K. Raghavendran, Asst Rotary Governor District 3201, Dr. JG Shanmuganthan, Chairman of Ganaga Hospital, Coimbatore, Shri. Rtn PHF. VE. Ramesh, President, Rotary Club of Texcity, Coimbatore were Guests of Honour in the programme. Shri. A.R. Seethirutham, president, Tamil Nadu Sports council of the Deaf ( Madurai) to the programme as special guest. There was robin leque as group ABC & D Teams. 3 districts per one place. Four places ie 1) Bharthiar University 2) TNAU 3) GCT and 4) State Forest college.. There teams were played in the one place out of 4 places. 1 st round 2 nd round & 3 rd round were held on 12 th December 09. Cups and Cash Award Cricket participants Match watch Many Vips and Guests On 13 the December Semi finals & final held on 13 th December Kalilingam University Team and Coimbatore District Team were in the final. Kasilingam University Team won the trophy. Trophy distributed by Chief Guest Smt. Gunawathy Fernandez, Regional Director, CBM, South Asia Regional Office (South) Bangalore. Shri. Award to Man of series Winner Team Cash award Rs for winner and Rs for runner up and Rs for Man of the Match also certificate of participation were given to all. 2 nd International Deaf Expo 2010, which to be held at New Delhi from 13 th to 17 th December 2010, its poster was released by Smt. Gunawathy Fernandez. Vote of thanks by Shri. K. Murali, Director, DEAF LEADERS. He thanked all who helped the programme a lot. 9 Leadership Training National Youth Leadership Training of the Deaf From 8 th to 13 th March 2010 at SVS College, Coimbatore Chief Guests and VIPS Students and Participants I would like to inform you that Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity and DEAF LEADERS were organizing training programme on RYLA National Youth Leadership training of the Deaf in Coimbatore from 8 th to 13 th March 2010 at SVS Educational Institution, Coimbatore. It is effect to support us to make deaf youth empowerment growth in India. It will be a platform for resource persons, youth and deaf persons for empowerment through organizations and thinkers in the field of hearing impaired to interact and exchange ideas. The strength of any deaf organization / institution and its sustainability will largely depend on the deaf leader and his / her ability to take the group forward, through good model and motivation. Total 75 youths participated from Indore, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujartha, Madurai, Kerala, and Coimbatore & so on 1 st Day 8 th March 2010 Chief Guest speech Shri. Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanvanayar, Chairman, Bharathiya vidhya Bhavan attended as chief guest to inaugurate the opening function. They spoke very proud of the different abled peoples and strength growth. Shri. Sibaji Panda gave their extra lectures other topics and careers on university in 4 hours Few youths of Ms. Mamta Singh from Indore gave her lecture about World Miss Deaf successfully. Other groups of Indore were tour to Ooty and Mysore in two days. 5 th Day 12 th May 2009 Mr. Shafique, Sign Language Professional, National Institute for Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai gave his lecture very importance on Deaf Culture and World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section in 4 hours. Mr. Babu, Sign Language Teacher IHRCD gave his lecture great lecture on Sign Language Development. Youth of Mr. Faistha, Deaf Leaders, Coimbatore lectures for good manner Mr. Sibaji Pandia Lecture National Deaf Youths Many Youths have supported to start new Youth Forum to nominate as coordinators 6 teams and discussion next plan on Deaf Expo 2010 for youth program. 6 th Day 13 th May 2009 Rtn.
