Smart Connected Hearing NEXT GENERATION HEARING PROTECTION
Hearing Exposure A Growing Concern 2 1 Noise induced hearing loss causes no pain, no evident trauma, and leaves no visible scars 2 Work Conditions can be dynamic and unpredictable creating unforeseen noise risks. 3 No way to ensure right fit, overprotection causes isolation, everyone is unique 4 Hearing Tests only detect damage after injuy has occurred.
I CHALLENGE 3 IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 1.1 BILLION YOUNG PEOPLE WORLDWIDE COULD BE AT RISK OF HEARING LOSS DUE TO UNSAFE LISTENING PRACTICES. Nearly half of all teenagers and young adults (12-35 years old) in middle- and high-income countries are exposed to unsafe levels of sound from the use of personal audio devices and some 40% of them are exposed to potentially damaging sound levels at clubs, discotheques and bars. Source: World Health Organization 2015, Hearing loss due to recreational exposure to loud sounds: a review.
I CHALLENGE 4 NOISE INDUCED HEARING LOSS CAUSES NO PAIN, NO EVIDENT TRAUMA, AND LEAVES NO VISIBLE SCARS. The damage from noise exposure is usually gradual. It may not be noticed until its too late.
I CHALLENGE 5 WORK CONDITIONS CAN BE DYNAMIC AND UNPREDICTABLE, CREATING UNFORESEEN NOISE RISKS. These conditions make it difficult to get an accurate picture of an individual s noise risk.
I CHALLENGE 6 IT S DIFFICULT TO HEAR IN NOISY ENVIRONMENTS. Blocking out all noise creates a feeling of isolation and can result in a lack of situational awareness. This can lead to accidents and result in inappropriate removal of the protection.
I CHALLENGE 7 YOU DON T KNOW IF A HEADSET IS FITTED CORRECTLY. Many factors can inhibit the protection offered from a headset. Whether it s eye-wear, hairstyles or incorrect wearing. All can compromise the headset s seal to the ear and the protection offered.
I CHALLENGE 8 HEARING TESTS ONLY DETECT DAMAGE AFTER THE INJURY HAS HAPPENED. Any hearing shifts detected in an individual are already permanent and it is difficult or even impossible to track down the cause of shift.
I CHALLENGE 9 EVERY WORKER IS UNIQUE. There are many factors that can affect someone s risk level, including job responsibilities, the working environment, as well as their personal susceptibility to NIHL.
10 THE FUTURE OF HEARING ADRESSING CHALLENGES
I WHAT IF 11 YOU HAD ACCESS TO HISTORICAL NOISE DATA? The solution empowers organizations to analyze noise exposure across teams, providing personalization of hearing conservation for individuals who struggle with compliance. Trends and insights regarding noise are now possible, whether determining noise peaks, patterns, or unusual occurrences.
I WHAT IF 12 YOU COULD HAVE CONSTANT VISIBILITY OVER THE NOISE EXPOSURE ACROSS A TEAM? Our Supervisor workbench is designed to manage a team of people, by connecting multiple headsets at any given time. It intelligently, identifies high-risk candidates, so you don t have to.
I WHAT IF 13 AN INDIVIDUAL COULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR OWN NOISE EXPOSURE? A holistic approach to noise monitoring includes a digital service and protective headsets. These enable the user to track their noise exposure over a period of time encouraging a safer behavior and bringing visibility to a once hidden hazard.
I WHAT IF 14 YOU HAD AN ADVANCED WARNING OF HAZARDOUS NOISE RISKS? Our patented noise-monitoring technology provides a constant measurement of your noise exposure inside the ear cup. This way it gathers the noise exposure where it matters most. Furthermore, audio alerts through the headset provide advance warnings of over exposure to noise - allowing you to stay one step ahead of hazards.
Connected Hearing Solution 16 End-users now know how well they have been noise protected over their working shift. Safety Professionals timely & accurate insight to team performance and deliver personalized hearing conservation for SEG s or individuals. SafetySuite Part of Honeywell s SafetySuite Safety management platform. Secure always on cloud data store and reporting too via web-interface Dose, LAeq, noise types graphs Individual Fit test results reports Configure over-exposure alarm threshold Individual historical exposure data Personal Exposure Monitoring Mobile App Mobile App for personal noise exposure monitoring headsets Worker authentications and headset pairing via Bluetooth Dose, LAeq, noise types graphs Configure over-exposure alarm threshold Exposure data stored in the Cloud Fit test results reported to Safety Suite Connected Headset Smart Hearing Protection Device Hear-through with fast impulse protection Sound exposure monitoring with real time inheadset over-exposure alerts. Cloud data sync via mobile device Built-in rechargeable battery. Recharge via USB Bluetooth connection for voice communication through Mobile phone
Hearing Protected vs. Unprotected Dose Analysis The graph shows dose for a singe worker and one day. Dotted line is showing what the unprotected dose would be if hearing protection was not worn (external sound) % of sound exposure dose Solid line is the actual dose of the worker (picked up under the protection). This will show if the worker has been over exposed to noise or not. This shows the % of protected dose at the last datapoint. The dot change colour depending on the %level This scale is showing the time of the day
Ensures Proper Wear of Hearing Protection Use case: The HSE manager has detected I high noise exposure for a worker and want to find out what has happened during a day. HSE manager decide to view the sound level reading LAeq (dba). HSE manager selects the Laeq Graph tab. He selects the inner and outer microphones by checking the boxes Unprotected sound level The graphs show the individual sound levels reading in 1 minute resolution. Protected sound level This area shows how the inner and outer microphone reading is almost the same, this means that the worker has not worn the headset, or have worn it in a improper way. The HSE manager now knows what might be the reason for the high exposure.
Track Exposure Limits by Worker Groups 19 USE case: The HSE manager want to get an overview of the exposure for All workers with the Job Role mechanics. He selects this and get to see the highest and lowest individual reading. Together with a mean value of the rest of the workers. When he scrolls down he will see the individual daily exposure for each worker in the group. When he scrolls down he will see the individual daily exposure for each worker in the group. This will help him understand if there is a need to focus on this group of workers or their work environment / deployment to bring the exposure down. Can also be used for reporting.
Track Exposure Limits of Individual Worker 20 Notifications can be received on high exposure Box checked to see the individual graphs. REMEMBER TO SCROLL DOWN FOR THE GRAPHS! Get Instant Notification on Hearing related safety events
