Dist: Gadag State: Karnataka Residential School for Children with Hearing Impaired Parents meeting Sharing feelings Prize distribution The aim of our school is to encourage & facilitate the all round growth & welfare of every deaf child to improve the overall knowledge & psychological development in the school climate. We are conducting various programs such as religious & national festivals, cultural activity, health camps & parents meeting as well as outdoor sites and so on, which can improve multi skills of our deaf child. Holy place visit The town s holy place (tapassu) of the AGASTYA MUNI, the place is called AGASTY TEERTH. Where the fair happens every year. By this visit our students became to know about the religious celebration. It helps to join with the main streams in the society. This type of visits helps to get the information about the social & cultural celebration & about the fairs.
2 Republic day Celebration: The national festival, 65 th republic day was celebrated in the school campus. One of our SSLC student Mr.Basavaraj. M (Got First Place in Taluka level drawing Competition) Hosted the Republic Flag. Students performed on some patriotic Songs & fancy dress about different national leaders. By result of this, is the meaningful celebration of the event and creates the National integrity on deaf child. Dance competition. DEAF CAN DANCE our students proved by participating in the dance competition KUNIYONA BARA with normal school students and won the 3 rd prize & certificates which was organized by SHRI DATTATREY VIDYA SAMSTE on the occasion of 26 th anniversary celebration on 25 th &26 th of Jan-2014 Slumber kit: The kit was given by the rotary club of Hubli to the 30 poor deaf students of our school. Really such a distributions impact their inner feeling about someone is there to support for due aspects in our life and distributed on 9/2/2014
3 Picnic (out door site): Introduction about the village life system & folk world, our students have visits to the ROCK GARDEN UTSAV GOTAGODI on 09/02/2014 where the various art models, occupation models, folk arts creation helps students creativity SmilE CaMp Shri. Dharmastal Manjunath dentil collage was organized The free dental check up under SMILE program at our school where the dentist gave some knowledge about dental problem and solutions along with the self care taking tips as well as importance of the teeth cleanliness to our deaf children.
4 Farewell party: The Farewell party was conducted with the lord MAHASARASVATI Pooje, with purpose to bless our SSLC students. After that, a parent meeting was held. In this meeting parent became to know their child s status in studies and also discussed regard needs to develop the child by the parent s involvement. At afternoon the cultural programs started. the prizes and medals with certificate of taluk level, dist level, state levels in KANNADA PRATIBHA PARIKSHE conducted by SIRIGANNADA PRATIBHA CHITRADURG & also in the SCIENCE TALENT EXAM conducted by Indian Talents. Mumbai was distributed. At last students and teachers shared their feelings. Success in SSLC Results: - 18 students have attended the SSLC exam on April , but out of that we got 88.88% in result. There is no doubt in every child gets well knowledge, develop skills and gain self confidence, sportiveness & patriotism by the enlightened approach, an enriching environment and by the friendly atmosphere.
5 SUSHRAVYA Pre-primary School for Oral Deaf Education (Mother Care Centre) Head Lines 1 MAKARA SANKRAANTI Celebration 2 KVG bank Visit 3 Court Visit 4 Class room activities. 5 Speech Therapy 6 Auditory Training The aim of the school is to identify deafness at early stage, bringing the hearing impaired child to the main stream society by giving practical knowledge of society with language development through oral deaf education (Speech Therapy). We have celebrated MAKARA SANKRANTHI Festival at Holalamma Devi Temple on 14 th of Jan, this will helps our oral deaf children in understanding the festivals and also more impact to their speech while speaking with friends and mothers. We visited to the KVG bank on 19 th January where students got some basic knowledge of bank sections, safety lockers and rooms and also how to deposit and draw the money from the bank. Next we have visited to the court in the town. With the permission of the judge, we attended the JUDGEMENT SESSION. By this, our children have got how to handle and knowledge to handle the cases in the court
6 Class room activities 1. Speech therapy 2. Drawings 3. Satellite 4. Mathematics 5. Auditory training 6. Importance of Money 7. Orders of Num and letters
7 Community Based Rehabilitation Programme The main theme of the program is rehabilitating the disables in rural places through creating the awareness about the government facilities, importance of therapy, education, Employment,- -self employment, vocational trainings and advocacy for the need based peoples or children with disability. Head Lines 1 Awareness program to ASHA WORKERS 2 Program for parents of disabled children 3 Anganawadi Workers It was a great opportunity to work at Mundaragi branch. During the last period we identified around 2203 disables through survey and organized so many awareness programs such as assessment camps, health programs, appliance distribution programs, and so on during the last 4 months. The above is the occasion of assessment camp for child with special needs.
8 Programs: organized two days training programme on 21th & 22 nd of Feb-2014 to provide information regard importance of disability causes and rehabilitation process to ASHA WORKERS at Primary Health Centre- Hirevaddatti, totally 33 workers were attended the program. Next, the awareness program to ASHA WORKERS at Kalkeri on 25 th Feb To the programme totally 23 workers had attended. We also organized three days trainings from 20 to 22 nd of March to create awareness about disability & their rights & also initiate leadership qualities to the parents of disabled child. During the programme 43 parents and 40 children were get the benefit. The same trainings to parents with the same content were organized at Gram Panchayath Singatalur on 26 th of April Where 66 parents and 66 children were attended. Organized a Need based screening and assessment camp for Adults with special need at Gram Panchayath Singataluru. During the camp we invited various resource persons to guide the youths with various opportunities to grow and earn independently And 44 adults and 19 parents got the benefits. By the result of these initiations, there is a miracle changes happened in the psychology of the parent s mindset about the disability and its challenges. After the introduction of programme, they are well responsive and taking the risk for them and to others. Along with community, we also working with stakeholders to refer and sustain the activities of the program.
9 Early Intervention and Inclusive Education Training for ASHA Workers Training to Parents Rally Screening under Polio program Trainings to Parents on early stimulation and its management With the cooperation of District Disable Welfare Officer and District Disable Rehabilitation Centre, Gadag organized three days training program for Children with Disables parents on 24 th, 25 th and 26 th March 2014 in Balehosur Grampanchayat and also same programme will be organized from 26 th to 28 th May, 2014 at Tangond primary school. The main objective of the programme is developing the basic skills of parents on early stimulation and its management which helps to manage their children s. For successful completion of the program, we invited Dr. Hiremath, ENT Specialist and other medical officers to check the health status of CWD s and suggest with few measures. That day, 165 parents and 64 Children with disabilities got the benefits. Training for ASHA Workers We organized the training for ASHA Workers on 23 rd January, 2014 in Hebbal Primary Health Centre. We provide information about Disability meaning, types, causes and procedure for early detection and also organizational services to the purpose of CWD s rehabilitation.
10 Rally To the object of creating awareness about early intervention and detection among the rural mass, we conducted rally programme with Govt. School children in Magadi, Shigli, Surangi, Balehosur. This will helps drop out CWD s admission and readmission to the schools. In this rally totally 386 children have participated (4 th to 7 th STD) students, 18 teachers & along with BDT Staff. Screening under Polio program Under the Polio programs on Jan/19 & Feb/23/2014 we have screened 0-6 year s children. With the help of this program and support of health dept & women & Child dept we were screened 2,482 children & detected 21 CWD s. Screening Camp s It is the first step for identification of disables with the formal process call screening. This method is very useful in detecting the children at early age. During the period we covers 18 villages in the Taluka and Screened 3014 children & detected 29 CWD s under the age group of 0-6 years with the support of Anganwadi teachers & ASHA worker.
