2 OCCUPATIONAL HEARING CONSERVATION TRAINING This course is designed to train nursing, allied medical and industrial personnel to perform pure tone air conduction hearing tests and other associated duties of the Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) as a member of the occupational hearing conservation team. All participants will have ample opportunity to practice hearing testing utilizing a variety of audiometry equipment with one-on-one instruction from the faculty. OBJECTIVES As a result of attending this course, you should be able to: Demonstrate proficiency in pure tone hearing threshold testing techniques on manual and microprocessor audiometer. Describe basic ear anatomy and physiology as well as how to perform an otoscopic examination. List parameters of sound as they relate to hearing testing. List various aspects of industrial hearing conservation programs, employee education, and federal and state regulations. Review updated information regarding current instrumentation and products. ACCREDITATION American Board of Industrial Hygiene - Certification Maintenance Points (CMs): 2.5 CMs Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety - Continuing Education Units (CEUs): 2.0 CEUs Nurses - This activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements for 24 (50 Minute) contact hours. The nurse is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education. Contact hours awarded by the Midwest Center are designed to meet ABOHN requirements for certification. Safety Professionals - This course is designed to meet the criteria for Continuance of Certification (COC) as specified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservationists (CAOHC) - The Midwest Center will submit your application for certification to CAOHC after successful completion of the course. Fee is included in your tuition.h

3 OCCUPATIONAL HEARING CONSERVATION RECERTIFICATION TRAINING This one-day refresher course will qualify those holding a current CAOHC certification for recertification. If you wish to purchase the current CAOHC manual, 4th edition, please include the additional $45.00 fee with your registration. All participants will have ample opportunity to practice hearing testing utilizing a variety of audiometry equipment with one-on-one instruction from the faculty. 6 REGISTRATION INFORMATION Tuition for the Occupational Hearing Conservation Training includes all course materials, (CAOHC manual), refreshment breaks, lunch, multiple hands-on workshops, and CAOHC certification fees. Tuition for the Hearing Conservation Recertification includes refreshment breaks, lunch and CAOHC recertification fees. CAOHC manuals are available for purchase if desired. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to order a copy of the 4th edition. These courses have limited enrollment and fill up quickly. You may register using the form on back or online at To secure your registration, tuition must accompany your registration form. Final registration will take place on the first morning of each course from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. at the conference location. Please notify us of any special needs for dietary requirements when you register so that we can make arrangements to accommodate you. The registration fee, less an administrative charge, is refundable after the course if cancellation is received seven days prior to the course date. No refund is available after that time. The Midwest Center reserves the right to cancel any course. In the event of course cancellation, participants will receive a full refund of the course tuition. The Midwest Center is not responsible for refund of travel or other costs incurred by registrants.
