Course Description This is an undergraduate 3rd year students course, 3credit hours (1 theoretical and 2 practical),it is designed to provide the students with : Provide the students with the basic technical knowledge and skills to fabricate Removable orthodontics appliances. To train the student to handle the equipments and materials used in the construction of removable orthodontic appliance in the proper way. 3. Provide students with practical hand-on training in the various steps involved in the fabrication of orthodontic appliances mainly the wire bending of the various components of orthodontic appliances, and the construction of acrylic base plate. Percentage 30% 30% 40% Teaching & Learning Methods There will be a weekly lecture for 1hour, and one weekly lab for 6 hours during which a demonstration will be given for half an hour, followed by individual supervised lab sessions. at the end of each lab the student is assessed by dental technology supervisors. The students are expected to fabricate all of following appliances: 1- Adam s clasp. 2- Palatal finger spring. 3- Single cantilever. 4- Double cantilever spring. 5- Buccal canine retractor. 6- Robert retractor. 7- T spring. 8- Southend clasp.
