They attend patient rounds, oral pathology seminars, a course in physical diagnosis, a course of Sedation and general anesthesia information is provided. Dental emergency diagnosis and management is taught both didactically and clinically. Students are responsible for the diagnosis and management of emergencies for their individually assigned primary care patients. 2-Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) a- Knowledge & Understanding: a1- Recognize principles of Bone Grafting systems a2- Recognize salivary system functions and interacts with the orosensory, oromotor and immune a3- Identify Salivary Gland Disease a4- - Recognize autonomic and somatomotor reflexes within and around the oral cavity function. a5- Identify Complex Head & Neck & Fascial Space Infections 1

2 a 6- Recognize specialized tissues of the orofacial region, including the tongue, lips, palate, face and periodontal ligament, with emphasis on their distribution, sensitivity and innervation a7- List Odontogenic Cysts & Tumors Describe the pharmacology of agents used for conscious sedation in Dentistry a8- Describe how to perform various techniques of conscious sedation common in general dental practice.list advantages and disadvantages of a given procedure. a9- Recognize analgesics for post-operative dental pain. a10- Recognize skeletal anchorage for Orthodontics a11- Describe pathology of the oral and maxillofacial regio b-intellectual Skills b1- Differentiate Dentofacial Deformities b2- Select patients would benefit from sedation techniques b3- Prescribe appropriate analgesics for post-operative dental pain b4- Differentiate between pathological lesions of oral cavity. c-professional and Practical Skills C1- Analyze a given set of facts concerning a patient's status and arrive at an appropriate diagnosis. The program taught at the Faculty is approved by the Supreme Council for Universities in Egypt. 4 4-Curriculum Structure and Contents 4.a-Programme duration One year. 5- Program Courses Course Lectures Clinical Oral Biology & Embryology 2 2 Oral Pathology 2 2 General Anatomy 2 2 General Physiology 2 - Oral X ray 1 2 Local & General Anesthesia 1 1 Oral Surgery Programme Admission Requirements The selected postgraduate students must be obtained Bachelor s Degree of Dental Medicine and Surgery at least two years before applied for master degree The student must obtain the agreement of his job authority to fulfill master degree. Also, he must have an acceptance from his job authority to be full time attendance in the faculty. 7-Regulations for progression and program completion Student must fulfill requirements required for completion of the program. Students must attend at least 75% of practical/ clinical sessions of each course. Students who fail to meet this minimal percent of attendance may be prevented from attending exam in this specific 4

5 course based on department council recommendation and decision of faculty council. exam is hold twice per year; in April and November. Also, the second part exam is hold twice per year; April and November. The student has only three chances for passing exam. In the evaluation of postgraduate student performance, the following letter grades are used: Excellent 85% Very good 75% - less than 85% Good 65% - less than 75% Fair 60% - less than 65% In order that a student passes in a course, his grades should be above the percent for passing provided that he gets at least 60% of the total exam grade, and at least 40% of the written exam total marks. A course in which a grade of less than 60% is received must be repeated at the discretion of the department. The grade in the repeated course, whether it is higher or lower than the original grade, replaces the original grade with grade fair 60%. 5
