2 SameekshaPerio Panorama 2018 Perio-Panorama which is an exam oriented program for Post graduate students of Periodontology is conducted every year by the Bangalore Academy of Periodontology since The 5 th Perio- Panorama was held in January 2018 in Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Center, Bangalore along with Bangalore Academy of Periodontology (BAP) under the aegis of Indian Society of Periodontology (ISP) and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka (RGUHS) and hence was christened SameekshaPerio-Panorama. The SameekshaPerio-Panorama was conducted on the 17 th, 18 th and 19 th of January The program was attended by post graduate students from various parts of the country with a final number of 159 registered delegates. The three day program consisted of guest lectures from many eminent speakers on various topics and also included panel discussions on how to prepare and approach theory and clinical examination. The program was well appreciated by the delegates as evident by the feedback received from the delegates at the end of the program. The program began on schedule at 9.00 am with the opening lecture by Dr. A R Pradeep, Professor and Head, Periodontology, Government Dental College, Bangalore and who is also the immediate past President of ISP. The topic for his presentation was Biomarkers and their clinical relevance which saw an almost full house with the delegates braving the bumper to bumper traffic of Whitefield and making it to the lecture on time. The first lecture was followed by the inauguration ceremony. The ceremony was attended by faculty members from various institutions and other dignitaries on and off the dais. The dignitaries on the dais for the inaugural ceremony included Dr. Mohan Thomas Nainan, Principal, Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Center, Bangalore, Dr. Mohammed Faizuddin, Senior faculty member, Dr. A V Ramesh, BAP Co- Ordinator and Dr. Shyam Padmanabhan, Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Center, Bangalore. The dignitaries off the dais included senior faculty members in Periodontology like Dr. C D Dwarakanath, Dr. A R Pradeep, Dr. Kincha and various faculty members from other institutes. The function was also attended by the heads of the various specialties and other faculty members of Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Center, Bangalore. The program was declared open by invoking the blessings of God almighty and lighting the lamp of wisdom and encouraging words of the dignitaries on the dais.

6 The inauguration was followed by lectures from Dr. Divya Bhat (Senior lecturer, R V Dental College, Bangalore) who spoke on Cementum in health and disease followed by an enlightening lecture by Dr. C D Dwarakanath (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Vishnu Dental College, Bhimavaram) on Neutrophils in health and disease. Day one of the SameekshaPerio- Panorama also included lectures from Dr. Joann Pauline George (Professor, Krishnadevaraya College of Dental ) and Dr. Lalith Vivekananda (Associate Professor, Ambedkar Dental College, Bangalore) on Plaque hypothesis and Classification of Periodontal diseases respectively. 8 Day 2 Day two of SameekshaPerio-Panorama included guest lectures by Dr. Savitha A N (Professor, Oxford Dental College, Bangalore), Dr. Kranti Konuganti (Professor, M S Ramaiah Dental College, Bangalore), Dr. Ashish Nichani ( Treasurer, ISP), Dr. Smitha K (Associate Professor, Government Dental College, Bangalore) and Dr. Shivaprasad B (Professor, Raja Rajeshwari Dental College, Bangalore). The afternoon session also had a Panel discussion on how to prepare and approach theory examination. The panelists included Dr. Aparna Rahul (Consultant Periodontist), Dr. Srirangarajan (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Bangalore Institute of Dental ), Dr. Sphoorthi B (Professor, KLE Societies Institute of Dental ) and Dr. Nisha KJ (Reader, Vydehi Institute of Dental ) with Dr. Aparna Rahul as the moderator. 11 Day 3 Day three of SameekshaPerio-Panorama included guest lectures by Dr. Savitha A.M (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Dayananda Sagar College of Dental ), Dr. Sudhir Patil (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, KLE Societies Institute of Dental ), Dr. Gayatri G (Professor, Oxford Dental College, Bangalore), Dr. Sapna Nadiger ( Reader, R V Dental College, Bangalore) and Dr. Sarita Narayan (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental ). The afternoon session again had a Panel discussion on how to prepare and approach clinical examination. The panelists included Dr. Shantipriya Reddy (Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, Dr Shyamala Reddy Dental and Hospital, Bangalore), Dr. Sarita Narayan, Dr Veena HR (Reader,KLE Societies Institute of Dental ) and Dr. Sanjeela Guru (Reader, Vydehi Institute of Dental ) with Dr. Shantipriya Reddy as the moderator. The interactive session of the panel discussion saw enthusiastic participation from the delegates who had numerous questions to ask the panelists who patiently addressed their doubts.
