2 Collection Description Biographical Note The Emory University School of Dentistry was established in Predecessors to its formation were the Southern Dental College ( ) and the Atlanta Dental College ( ). These two schools united to form Atlanta-Southern Dental College which merged with the Emory University in September of The School of Dentistry remained in operation until 1985 when a decision was made to phase out its undergraduate program by This was followed in 1990 by the decision to close the School of Postgraduate Dentistry as well. Scope and Content Note The collection consists of records documenting the Emory University School of Dentistry from It includes bulletins, meeting minutes, school publications and records of student organizations, as well as photographs and clippings documenting the decision to close the school.
