8 RULES & REGULATIONS Farooqia Dental College & Hospital is a professional college where a student is trained to become a good dental surgeon with a thorough knowledge to treat dental and oral ailments. We wish to develop expertise not only in dentistry but also in general build up of their personality with respect to confidence, selfless service, social responsibility and professional etiquette. DISCIPLINE: Discipline and punctuality are the two basic requirements to become a good dental surgeon. The students should be regular and punctual for the teaching programmes. The students are advised to treat their patients with respect, sympathy and care. They are further advised to complete their work on time and thus maintain the patient s appointment. Students should keep their cell phone in silent mode during theory or practical/clinical class. DRESS CODE: GIRLS : Should be dressed in chudidars or sarees with hair combed neatly. BOYS : Should be dressed in formal shirts, trousers and should wear formal shoes and will be well groomed with short hair. ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE ABOVE IS NOT ALLOWED Bracelets, bangles, finger rings watches and all other ornaments are to be removed while treating the patients. Nails are to be trimmed and not to be painted. Neat aprons with identity cards on upper left side shall be worn in the college and hospital premises. ATTENDANCE: The students have joined the institution basically to learn. Their duty is to attend the classes and study. THE MINIMUM REQUIRED ATTENDANCE FOR STUDENTS OF RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES IS 75% in both & Practicals/Clinicals. Prior permission is necessary before absenting oneself for classes or clinicals. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED MINIMUM ATTENDANCE ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO GIVE THE 8
9 UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION. Kindly note that leave on MEDICAL grounds do not have any relaxation. Classes and clinicals for some subjects are distributed for more than 1 academic year i.e., the attendance of 2 academic years is taken into consideration for computation of eligibility in a subject taught for 2 academic years even if there is no University Examination at the end of the first academic year for that subject. It is compulsory for REPEATERS AND DETAINED STUDENTS TO ATTEND CLASSES IN THE FAILED SUBJECT / SUBJECTS AND PUT UP A MINIMUM OF 75% AS APPLICABLE. List of Holidays as notified by R.G.U.H.S is enclosed. Keeping in view the interest of parents and students, the college informs them about the shortage of attendance from time to time. However, the students can neither claim it as a right to be informed nor seek mercy for being unaware of shortages and their consequences. SPECIAL NOTE FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS: The admission process to first year BDS students extends from one week to one month. The students may join the course during that period on different dates but before the last date. In such a situation the attendance is calculated from date of commencement of term (as notified by the University) and not from the date of the students actually joining the course. The students whose admissions are delayed due to various reasons should note this point and attend the classes regularly. CLINICS: The patients coming to the hospital are offering themselves for treatment, thereby giving opportunity for young doctors to learn. Students are not doing any favour by treating these patients. Hence a sincere and humane approach is a must. The students should learn the local language for better communication and management of patients. The students must treat the patients under the supervision of the teaching staff and shall obtain approval at each step. Record of clinical work done has to be maintained and duly certified. 9
10 The students are required to get their own hand instruments, micromotor hand piece and airotor hand piece. Students should maintain the dental equipments in good condition and they are held responsible for any damage, destruction or loss.
