1 MATRIX PLATFORM FEATURES DESIGNED TO COMPLEMENT AO FIXATION PRINCIPLES The aim of surgical fracture treatment is to reconstruct the bony anatomy and restore its function. Internal fixation is distinguished by anatomical reduction, stable fixation, preservation of blood supply, and early, active mobilization. Plate and screw osteosynthesis has been established and clinically recognized for some time. The Matrix plating platform for internal fixation of the craniomaxillofacial skeleton addresses neuro, craniofacial, mandibular, and orthognathic surgery. The Matrix Platform is simple, yet comprehensive, offering flexibility and ease of use. 4 DESIGNED FOR STABILITY, VERSATILITY, AND PATIENT COMFORT MatrixWAVE MMF combines strength and simplicity DESIGNED FOR STABILITY Locking screw and plate construct allows for stable bone-borne fixation Increased number of anchoring points for MMF wiring as compared with a typical IMF Screws (*) setup Accessible screw heads offer additional anchor points for approximation of bone segments VERSATILE Two different plate heights help to avoid interference with definitive plating and surgical incision location Wave design enables the surgeon to stretch or compress a plate to optimize screw hole location Up to 15 screw insertion angulation allows for posterior fixation and occlusal control EASE OF USE AND PATIENT COMFORT Accessible screw head is intended to help minimize soft tissue overgrowth Design eliminates interdental wiring, which may reduce the risk of wire sticks associated with arch bars Screw and plate are intended to help protect soft tissue and enable the surgeon to avoid tooth root injury Plate covers less tooth surface than arch bars to provide the opportunity for better oral hygiene * As compared with DePuy Synthes IMF Screw Set which recommends a minimum of 4 screws

5 FAST APPLICATION FOR GREATER OPERATING ROOM EFFICIENCY MatrixWAVE MMF system combines an adaptable plate with self-drilling locking screws to facilitate faster MMF than arch bars for greater OR efficiency TECHNIQUE OVERVIEW* Select plate and adjust height by expanding the plate horizontally. Contour and cut the plate to fit the maxilla/mandible. Insert a screw through the plate. Do not engage screw-locking threads; this will provide stability to manipulate the plate. 4 Expand or compress the plate to align location of remaining screws. 5 6 Insert remaining screws, engage locking threads. Apply wire; screw heads serve as additional anchor points. After wiring fully tighten all screws to ensure they are locked into the plate. * The above steps are only an overview of the complete surgical technique required for the MatrixWAVE MMF System.
